Is today the day - or do we have to wait until Darryl Sutter's grandson gets traded to break the log-jam?

Not sure?

I don't know if this is some self-imposed deadline for Doan himself, or if it's some important deadline for the Coyotes franchise regarding the possible new owners, the City of Glendale, or the Goldwater Institute?

I guess we'll see how today unfolds...

EDIT: From Spector's Hockey, via the Arizona Republic...

ARIZONA REPUBLIC: Paola Boivin feels Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan deserves better than to have his sixteen year association with the club end via free agency due to ongoing uncertainty over its sale to the Jamieson group. Doan has given the Coyotes until July 9th before he begins seriously entertaining offers from other teams.

I guess it's a deadline Doan has supposedly imposed. I guess we'll find out just how serious he is about leaving Phoenix.

Moylander could be right. Doan could come out and say he needs more time.

Could it be that all the FA favorite song is "Don't come around here no more".

Sorry, had to do it.

Edit - or is that StanBows favorite song?

We had the same issues in the first round against PHX. We couldn't score goals and we were without our top scorer (Hossa). Yes, Crawford let in 2 softies but it should not have come down to that in the first place. I'm not sure I believe that if we had Lu between the pipes we would have won that series.

No need to get all snooty, Buddy.

I think Sharp led the team in goals...........

Too nice to waste my time with SB's nothingness. Goin to the beach.
But...Ek says Hawks are in talks with the Habs, giving a top-6 forward. Can we trade Stalberg and a prospect (Morin?) for Georges? Then I'd be in favor of moving Hammer for Lu.

Without reading the last 30+ pages of posts, I know that he's polarized many on this site, but regardless of where he played, he's still a top tender in the NHL and his contract can be dealt with. Sign Hannan. Sign Moore. Make one last BIG push for Doan. If not, use Shaw and Carcillo in the top-6 to provide forecheck, protection, and net-presence.

Off to check out the other "talent" on Barceloneta beach.

Lucky. Barcelona's a great city. Didn't spend anytime on the beaches unfortunately but loved the Gothic Qtr, the Gaudi architecture and that indoor market right off of Las Ramblas.

You didn't miss much the last few days and the beach is a better call. A Canuck fan obliged us with a naked picture of Kesler which I believe is a sign of the apocalypse, along with them winning a Cup and the Cubs a World Series.

Like all your moves and would add getting Winnik and love to see us get Gorges. Other than Max or Subban the guy on the Habs worth a look (Plekanec possibly as 2C).

Can't get too excited about Lu though. The player's good but can't separate him from the contract which is a stinker.

As little faith as I have in CC, willing to give him one more year to prove he's the guy. If he can't he's fairly moveable with one yr left on the contract, depending on how good/bad he plays next year. I should say willing to give him another year if Stan sits on his hands and does nothing to address goaltending.

Rozner on the Score talking about the Hawks saying no way do we go after Luongo and pointing out the obvious (at least to him, us, everyone but SB apparently) that small puck possession teams have not been the model for Stanley Cup champion the last few years.

Nashville = worse
Phoenix = annoying but not much better
Detroit = worse
Minnesota = better but still not a top team
St Louis = a fluke IMO last year and they will not respond the same way this fall
LA = should be good still but Cup hangover will be a factor
Sharks = older, and beatable just like last year especially with their goaltending situation and propensity to choke
AVS = still rebuilding, could be dangerous but very young and not a deep D core
Stars = probably same as last year
Calgary = would be lucky to get an 8 seed
Vancouver = same and possibly worse of Kesler doesn't recover from his shoulder reconstruction
Columbus = still sucks
Ducks = same team as last year

Every other team in the West is about where they were last year or worse. The only team that got better at all was Minnesota and it is still debatable that they are a playoff team.

Hawks as they are presently made up predicated on Hossa's health are a 1st place central division team and a home ice team in the Western Conference. Really not a horrible position. A few more complimentary depth pieces and a surprise in terms of scoring (Bickell, Bolland, Saad, Kane exlpoding --- whoever) and they could be the top team in the West.

This is an excellent post , but this is exactly why I wish the Hawks would add. The COnference is here for the taking , The Kings may have the hang over effect but they're still awesome, yet it is inceredibly hard to repeat. The "As-is" roster's should have the Hawks and Blues going toe to toe for the Central.
