Agreed. if Doan really wants to go to a serious Cup contender, Detroit is not that right now. - John Jaeckel
I'm wondering if Doan wants a 4-5 yr deal...If he doesn't go up to Canada to finish his career....Montreal/Toronto/Vancouver???

A good amount of Stastny's production has come from him being "the guy," carrying bad Colorado teams.
Burrows' numbers come from riding the coattails of players like the Sedins or Kesler.
Which player would you rather have? - EKolb13

Similar to Jay Bo...Only two years left.
Also similar in he is paid as the best at his position for that team and may not be anymore. - Al
I am all about Statsny as the #2 Center flanked by Hossa and perhaps Saad.
In an NHL12 ideal world Stan offloads Hammer, Frolik, Montador, Olesz, Emery, Stalberg, and Bickell and replaces them with Hannan, Winnik, Doan, Statsny, Tanev, picks and Luongo. Don't see it happening. Rather have Statsny over Lu though |

Let's be modestly realistic, here. You also have to pull hair and knee prone players in the groin. - NewToHockey
Yeah, those are bullet points on Burrows' resume as well.

Hey, someone has to be a complete assbag to draw attention away from the below the belt crap the Sedins pull, so they can get away with it. - EKolb13

The way contracts are being offered out this year Doan will probably cost 6.5/3 yr
He is a great player but that is a lot to pay out for 36 year old. |

My only down day between last Monday and the 18th of August. Either events or work the rest of the time. Mostly sleeping too much this morning. |

But the rubber meets the road here once again...
To have any chance at a top young player Bowman will have to part with some of his most prized draft picks....Not the boys in Rockford and not the kids from this summer.
Until he is willing to do that, don't look for an impact player.
Hammer + McNeil or similar, then the Hawks have a chance. |

I am very late in replying, but you still haven't answered the question, as a Hawks fan, is the idea of trading some of your future for another prospect goalie that may in fact be no better then the one you have now worth the risk? Sure, Crawford under performed a bit in the playoffs, but he was lights out the previous year no? - 1970vintage
I'm a big Crawford fan, but the problem is that he's had one great season and one poor season which leaves us speculating about next season. With Luongo in net we'd know that the goaltending situation is secure. Crawford could be awesome (or Crawesome) next season but we just don't know.
The only down side to getting Luongo is the length of his contract and what it would cost to get him. I have not problem giving up prospects (aside from Saad and this years 1st round pick) and some lower end players (ie Bickell). But I know some salary would have to back so Frolik would likely have to go, unless Crawford goes to Vancouver. |

So you trade his contract to Columbus and they eat up cap space at no cost. |

I have my doubts on the idea that there will be much movement. My gut still tells me everything is in a holding pattern until Doan makes a decision. |

If Columbus does not have Nash and are playing with invisible players then chances are they will be joining Pho in a relocate. |

How does sid the kid get a pass for what i believe was just as cowardly and wretched as Burrows did? |

Why did Weber get a stern talking to and Torres get 25 games? Different standards for different players. It has always been that way, especially under Bettman. |

Been following the Hawks for 28 years and I understand the importance of Solid Goaltending. I love Lu as a player, but the cap hit and term are what chase me towards wanting Statsny over Lu. 6 more years @ over 5 mil when he is already 33 worries me. Must worry the Canucks too if they are moving forward with Schnieder. In a non-cap scenario I take Lu and Statsny and say it was an outstanding summer. I guess it could be worse, I could be a Canucks fan and face watching diving 101 each year |

Burrows plays with the Twins and isn't a center....Outside of that good point. - Al
Can't deny that playing with the twins can make a decent player great but many of Burrow's points aren't nessacarily twin generated. He has a knack for scoring huge goals at the right time. Played great at the WC (despite injury). No twins.
Has a crazy amount of short handed goals as well.
He's actually a centre converted to the wing.
Anyway, back to Lu. What's the Italian community like in Chicago. |

Al,
Just for the record; what is your pecking order of the Hawks prospects? I.E. #1,#2...
Thanks,

The legitimate Italian community or the mafia? Actually, both flourish here. |
