Hammer and Frolik = overpayment. Monty and Frolik is more like it. - Ogilthorpe2
Hammer could go...with oduya and Leddy on 2nd pair and tha addition of brookbank the 5mill of space that hammer and fro have would offset lu's cap hit leaving roughly 8 mill for doan and any one else |

If "all in" is dealing olesz and frolik then sure have at it Stan Bowman. We've been through this a million times. Mike Gillis, whether you want to keep denying this or not, is NOT dealing in a position of strength. Lu wants out, Gillis wants him out, Lu will be a big distraction once the season starts, so he needs to deal him soon. Only 3 teams are actually showing any interest; Toronto, Florida, and the hawks. Florida has a young stud goalie coming up, so they are not going to overpay. Hawks have both netminders locked up. Sure they aren't anything special, but they are prepared to go into the season with them. Toronto is the only team that really makes a lot of sense, but does Lu want to go to another canadian market? Toronto is still looking to get Nash anyways.
Just admit it. Nobody is going to give the nucks a top 6 player or anyone of big value for an albatross of a contract. Think Brian Campbell here.........and at that time campbell was traded, the hawks were not handcuffed like Gillis is right now.
Why is it taking so long for a deal to happen? Sounds like gillis wants a whole lot (even though he is clearly being bent over a barrell by LU), and other teams are not stupid and willing to part ways with good players. Expect a bad contract going the other way, and maybe a project player like frolik. - Wowo2282
Never claimed either. I'm not a magician or a hockey insider so i have no idea at Lu will command. Hell, I'm not 100% sure he will be traded before the start of this coming season.
But what I am saying, like it or not, Lu makes your team better. Much better. Shame to see a championship team gutted the year after they win only to wallow in mediocrity since. Lu will bring some of that swagger back. He would become your best and most important player. |

As much as I'd love to see Doan in the Indian Head, at this point I'd rather Stan just get off of his ass, stop waiting around or a guy who isnt coming here anyway, and put a package together to get a 2C...preferably Stastny. - Ogilthorpe2
Did a podcast the other night with Chris Block from the the third man in.com...
Talked about the Stastny possibilty...
The Av's may need defense more than they do Stastny.

He would absolutely be an upgrade. Its just where gillis sits in this whole situation......if he comes down in price, i think the hawks take a flyer on bobby lu. |

Your approaching this situation all wrong. You take flyers on goalies like Turco. Not a goalie like Lu. Lu comes with a guarantee. He makes your team relevant again. |

Hi Ogie!
I'm willing to bet something like Stastny could be plan B if the Hawks loose out on Doan. |

I like Stasny as a player big time but that's a large salary. I'd like him even more if he could play the game like his old man Peter and his 2 uncles. |

Detroit will get Doan. They will seriously overpay to get him since they are the BIG losers in free agency so far. Four to five years at $6-7M is my guess. - hawks2010
I think Holland is more concerned with filling that big gaping hole in his first defensive paring.

Of all Canucks Ballard is the last one I would want on the Canucks, they guy is a pylon and considering his value his cap hit is worse than Luongo.
But I would rather Stan start the season with Crawford/Emery and focus on acquiring a second line centre which is a more pressing need (IMO). - DarthKane
Agreed.
Doan or a #2 center would make me happy. Along with another guy who can win face offs. |

6.6m per for the next two seasons and 21 goals and 32 assists is your plan B? Burrows does that for 2.2m. I think Stastny should be plan 'F'. |

Stastny doesn't have to bite fingers or dive to get by in the league. |

Honestly I think it wouldn't be a bad deal at all. Bernier was chosen 11th overall so there's your first. Then you send them a player like Morin or Hayes and a player like Frolik or along those lines. Some people think the Hawks would need to send Saad and McNeil and a first and a player and I just can't see that as the case. Bernier is a highly thought of goalie but is still unproven with only 35 games under his belt. - Tuke17
I am very late in replying, but you still haven't answered the question, as a Hawks fan, is the idea of trading some of your future for another prospect goalie that may in fact be no better then the one you have now worth the risk? Sure, Crawford under performed a bit in the playoffs, but he was lights out the previous year no? |

The Canucks lucked out with the Burrows contract. I remember when the deal was first signed a lot of Canucks fans thought it was too much. But $2 mil for a gritty top 6 forward, you can't beat that. However this is the last year of that deal and he'll be in for a heafty raise, I'd say he'll get $4-$5 mil and maybe more if he actually hits free agency.
Stastny didn't have the best season last year, but he'd do much better if he had Hossa and Sharp as wingers. |

A good amount of Stastny's production has come from him being "the guy," carrying bad Colorado teams.
Burrows' numbers come from riding the coattails of players like the Sedins or Kesler.
Which player would you rather have? |

Similar to Jay Bo...Only two years left.
Also similar in he is paid as the best at his position for that team and may not be anymore. |

Hey, someone has to be a complete assbag to draw attention away from the below the belt crap the Sedins pull, so they can get away with it. |
