He's a great poker player and a pretty good goalie.
He's your starter for the next 5 years and splits duties for the next 2-3 then he's off to Florida. He wants to play in a hockey market. |

Seriously...........After all the talk of Suter and Parisie possiably coming to chicago and McDopes talk of a big splash...............Its more a big Thud. I am a action guy so if you are going to talk the talk, walk the walk. Or Shut up and do nothing so we can clean house after the one and done for the 3rd straight year. I know there is hope with moves yet to be made but this all so feels like being a cub fan (Pre Theo years). It really is disheartning |

Good morning fellas,
So we're 1 week into free agency, and Stanley has got us a #6 D man and an AHL center.
So, since the Hawks havent done d ick we have to assume that they're going to go balls to the wall after Doan right ? But Doan isnt even going to decide if he'll look at offers until tomorrow right ? Right now the Hawks are looking at a 7/8 seed. I hope something productive happens soon. |

I agree, tough to get excited about Brookbank!
That and a healthy Carcillo will not get us past the first round.
Hope he does something of significance soon otherwise could be a repeat the last two years. Good stretches followed by bad stretches and an early playoff exit.
Sigh...c'mon SB DO SOMETHiNG |

Bulls aren't very accomplished since FA openned, either: no signings, may have lost Asik to Houston. EDIT: Apparently they have signed Heinrich - my following statent stands.
Meanwhile, Mami has improvedv(signed Allen), OKC is more experienced.
I think the window has closed on this Bulls team - next opportunity to rebuild will be after 2013-2014.
Window for them has closed - just as it will for the Hawks.
Have to go for it now - the cap in four/five years doesn't matter.
If it's Luongo, fine - if it's overpaying (dollars and years) for Doan, fine - if it's lesser but known fill-ins (but better than O'D / Morrison / Lepisto, etc.), fine.
But don't bet this year on guys who have never done what you want them to do. |

i miss Santa Fe speedway .... - sgt1480
More action in the first turn of a heat in a dirt race than in 4 hours of follow the leader ashphalt racing. Dirt is for racing, ashphalt is for gettin there.
Kankakee and LaSalle still run as do a couple dirt tracks up in Wisconsin.

Anyone going to Prospects camp? I am planning on going to the Friday scrimmage. - Sundevil
Big mistake from a fans standpoint moving this thing from The Edge to Johnny's Ice House. .... The Edge can easily put 2,500-3,000 in with no obstructed view and parking galore. The Ice House allows a couple hundred to see the ice and the rest to look at the backs of their heads. And it's wise to bring a 45 to walk to and from your car.
I'm done with Prospect Camp, but would love to get a report on the 17 year old Finn and the two goalies drafted in the last round.
Never forget the first time I saw Niemi at prospect camp. It was at the Edge and a couple hundred of us saw him on one end and Crawford on the other during scrimmage, with Makarov looking like a man amongst boys. ...... That's the camp where Niemi beat out Crawford to be the Hawks' #2.

Scary thing is if the Hawks don't get him you could see McD going all in on Bobby Lu for the big splash...
if so that's gonna be some convention...has CPD filed for overtime for this event yet? |

Quick thought, Vancouver does not want $9+mil tied up in goaltending. Say Chicago and Florida are the only 2 places that Lu agrees to waive to go to. Stan and Tallon decide that they don't want to pony value up for Lu. Does Vancouver buy Luongo out? Perhaps Stan is waiting for that possibility? Speaking of buyouts, is Olesz bought out or buried? I hope Stan doesn't buy out if Rocky was willing to eat $8 mil for Olesz to play in Rockford and Huet to play accross the pond. Early morning thoughts cause by heat and boredom. Here is hoping today the Blackhawks show up in the transactions column. |

A Lu buyout would last about 20 years. |

Detroit will get Doan. They will seriously overpay to get him since they are the BIG losers in free agency so far. Four to five years at $6-7M is my guess. |
