Well that's what it's going to take, Vancouver just isn't going to move Luongo to one of their biggest rivals for "crap contracts".
And say what you want about the term of Luongo's contract, the Blackhawks would be a significantly better team with him in net. - Brandon_Lee
I agree he would help the Hawks. But is contract is still bad. Can not give up a lot to get him. Gillis is in a spot. No matter what you or anyone else says. He needs to trade LU or there will be problems this season for the Nucks. |

Hey Paulish...
No rage here...not worth it.
But I am concerned that management can't, or won't make the changes we all seem to feel are needed.
If SB and Co. are keeping all their beloved prospects out of faith, I sure hope they develop into the stars they envision.
Nothing worse that a buster draft pick that's kept in the system too long...then they're no good to any club...
...unless it's Dan Cleary - ArlingtonRob
Nothing worse - except a core of talent that gets wasted year after year because management can't / won't (won't / can't?) fill the holes around them.

Yeah...I suppose there's that too. I was focusing my comment on our suspicion that SB and Co. love their prospects too much...and that may be what's holding up a deal for proven NHL talent. |

You would get, then, 4 years of high quality - certainly top-10 quality - goaltender play.
Then you're stuck with a bad contract.
But so what - if he gives you a much better chance to win a cup than you have now - a better chance for your 4 good years.

X2. Still waiting for Winnik and Hannan Stan! - ikeane
Currently, the Hawks have a full roster at 23 players. I'd imagine the reason why there hasn't been another signing (like Winnik and Hannan) is because they're either waiting on a certain free agent, or waiting on a certain trade to go through.
It could be that Bowman may already have deals worked out on the side with a player(s), much like they did with Turco back a couple of summers ago.
We're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Maybe.
Possibly.
If so I will publicly apologize to Stan Bowman.

If the Hawks get Lu, I doubt we'll be talking about wasting another year of the core come fall. If they don't make a significant improvement somewhere... |

This Hawk fan agrees with you entirely...
...and I just luv the idea of Lu to the Hawks. The drama, the anticipation...one thing is certain, the Hawk fans (and the league really) would be invigorated by the deal...in both a positive (me) and negative (EKolb13) way. - ArlingtonRob
I'd personally be terrified to play Chicago in the playoffs with Luongo, because I think he will be extremely motivated after all the criticism he has taken this offseason.
However, from the perspective of a Vancouver / Chicago rivalry, I'm not sure if you could write a better script. If Luongo does somehow end up in Chicago, I would hope the 2013-2014 Winter Classic is Chi & Van.
Imagine that 24/7 |

Fair enough. I understand that most fans across the league think this.
However, assuming this is true, why just "dump" Luo within the conference? If Gillis just wants to offload him, he would send him to the Panthers. We never play them, and it's where Luo wants to go.
The only way Chicago will get him is if they significantly outbid the competition. |

At this point, it seems the majority of teams are waiting for "this." I don't know if "this" is just Doan, or a major trade (Nash/Boumeester/Luongo) or a mix of the whole thing?
If I'm not mistaken, the cap floor is $54.2 million. If that's correct, then there are 14 teams currently under that mark salary wise. I would think part of that equation is some of those teams waiting to see how the situations above shake out with other teams, because I'm sure those teams may have deals worked out to take on contracts, depending on where some of the players above end up landing. |

Very likely true...one possible problem may be FLA passing on him. How many other teams are actually interested?
Damned if I know...I'm just a fan. |
