Well, I know I was told to "bookmark it!" a few days ago, as a trade was imminent the next day.

Still waiting...

I don't think I would trade Vanek for Stastny if I were Buffalo.

I'll value my own talent, thank you very much, and I think Van is our best forward.

So what's yer offer?

Vanek, Pysyk for Yandle, Boedker

Wow interesting trade...I think a defenseman like Yandle is tougher to come by than a forward like Vanek though. For instance Semin puts up numbers like Vanek and he' still a free agent.

Darcy will trade one or more of the Sabres excess dmen for a third rate veteran center (ie. Matt Cullen) and then call it a day.

I like the Ott acquisition, but it looks like the summer will slip away without adding the impact player the Sabres desperately need if they want to be taken seriously as a Cup contender.

Seems to me you only trade Vanek for Stastny if you are bringing in more scoring talent like Ryan, and that's not happening. Besides, left wing then becomes a major weak spot.

I really liked the idea of giving Shea Weber an offer sheet, but Darcy would never do it. Time to be bold.

No offense, but what would be the point of that trade?

Like I said, with our need for a center, the return better be Kesler, Kopitar or Backes.

Vanek is money. He averages 33 goals a year. It's not an easy thing in this NHL to average 33 goals a year.

Semin is a me-first, coach killer, and I want him nowhere near this team.

He is making 7.5 million and has only eclipsed 70 points twice in his career. He, right now is more like a 30-goal, 35 assist guy. That isn't a good value at all. Sorry

Funny, you've just made a description of Paul Stastny.

right, which is the same reason why we don't want to trade Vanek for him, there's no reason why either club should do the move because it's a dumb move.

Does he average 33 goals a year in the last 4 years? He's declining. Had 4 goals since Jan 1st I believe

He played hurt for the last half of the year. The team said this at the end of the year. And at 28 years old, he's not declining. Bring in a real, pass-first centerman for him, ala Joe Thornton, and Van scores 40...every year.

And it would be a typical Sabres move...coming up short of addressing a serious need.

and there's no guarantee they finish as bad as they did, either.

no but they did...LOL I was just pointing out to people that it was NOT a negotiated salary between Vanek & Sabres

It's every year he's hurt for half the year. He slumps for 25 games a year, provides no defense and takes horrible penalties. That trade was with no thought and off the top of my head, but I would take a guy like Yandle and Boedker in a second for Vanek.

I disagree, Vanek creates his own scoring chances, he's not a catch and shoot type of player. He needs other shooters around him where he can get the deflection and rebound goals. A center would help on the Power play.

So you're trading a guy that has 230 career nhl goals for a guy with a career high of 11 goals?

Glad you're not the Sabres GM, no offense (literally).

I still say Semin 2 yrs 7 mill. He probably won't sign it for that with the Wings or Devils asking about him.
