Hmm... Stafford, Adam, Sekera and a 2nd for Ryan and a 1st? Other than that I'm outta ideas... - LetsGoBuffalo75
Is Ryan that much better than Stafford
Don't get me wrong,
I'd def rather have Ryan...
But to give up Adam AND Sekera?
I think Stafford is at minimum a 20goal scorer
Prob more like 25+ and could def top 30 again if the line plays like it did last year
But let's just say he gets 25goals...
Is the extra 5-10goals Ryan would get us worth Sekera AND Adam?
Maybe, but that's a pretty hefty price IMO |

They do need a #2 C... Eh, if ANA threw in another pick or we took out ours, it'd be more reasonable... |

If we sign semin it should only be for two years max. I'm afraid of giving him a big contract and having him just play like lazy Russian. A short contract will give him something to play for. Also isn't ott a center? Won't he be playing 3rd or 4th line center? Forget Statsny. He's not gonna win us a cup. Let's develop what we have. I only want to kick guys to the curb of they are truly bums without talent. Hodgson and ennis do not fit that description so let's work to make them better hm? Also, Moore didn't work out too well the first time, so let's not do that. Leino is getting paid 4.5 million he's not gonna play 4th line no matter how much he stinks it up. If we focus on anyone for trading it should be Ryan, but let's not overpay. At the end of the day honestly, I think we'll trade a few dman for picks.
My thoughts on the 2012 line up
Vanek-hodgson-pominville
Foligno(if he continues to play well)-ennis-Stafford
Leino-Grigerenko-gerbe
McCormick-Ott-Kaleta
Scratched until bruins game-Scott
Myers-Regehr
Ehrhoff-Sulzer
Leopold/sekera-mcnabb |

Switch McCormick & Ott, and that'd be a pretty solid lineup. |

If I may ask, why? I thought Ott was good at face-offs. |

My co-worker's sister dates Lindy Ruff's son and she told me he said the Sabres are going after Nash and that Vanek may be going. Not sure if Vanek would leave in that deal but that's what I heard. Take it for what's it's worth.
and no, I'm not just messing with you guys. I know I'm not the "insider" and I'm usually hesitant to post rumor stuff like this but I'd figure you guys might like that tidbit of info. - CaptainRivet

Ott plays LW but takes face offs, like Pominville does at RW. |

I think our two biggest holes are top9 RW
And top4 defense
With that in mind.....
Regehr, Catenacci --> Chris Stewart
Adam, Sekera, Leduc, 1st --> Shea Weber
Vanek-Hodgson-Stewart
Ott-Grigorenko-Pominville
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Kaleta-Gerbe-Tropp
Ehrhoff-S.Weber
McNabb-Myers
Leopold-Sulzer/Weber
If McNabb isn't quite ready for top4 minutes yet then switch him & Leopold
Pysyk should be ready the following season to play on the 3rd pair, or possibly at some point this year
There's a variety of guys that you could sub in on the 4th line if gerbe can't play center... Porter, McCormick, etc

Stewart over pommer??? - LetsGoBuffalo75
I don't really see it as Stewart over Pominville...
Just as a better fit that way
Stewart provides a physical style that can take some of the pressure off vanek to stand in front of the net & get beat up on a nightly basis
Ott is a banger, so Pominville would fit good there IMO...
But switch the lines around however u like
My point is that we'd have 3lines that can all put the puck in the net and be decent defensively too |

Doesn't mean he can't still play there
It just also frees him up bc there's another guy on his line that can play down there too
Vanek has a hell of a shot... Getting him freed up to rip some shots in the slot would be a good thing
But like I said, you wanna switch pominville & Stewart?
That's fine
We all know lindy will switch the lines 30xs a game anyways |

Yep, that is why it says 2011. Its nice to look back one year and see what signings panned out, and which ones flamed out seeing as though we are in the thick of the current batch of free agency. |

Any of you crazy bastards still up want something Sabres related to read here is a breakdown of the 2011 free agent signings for the Northeast Division.
http://dluxe.com.au/Hocke...ast-div-free-agency-recap - Gunner Staal
Shea Weber -->
Sekera, Adam, Leduc, 1st
Anywhere close to getting it done or am I just dreaming?
I'm of course assuming that Sekera's value has indeed gone up with his play at the Worlds + him being signed for 3 more years at a 2.8m cap hit
And that Adam would still be attractive even though he slumped at the end of the season |

Weber's situation is a unique one. If you trade for him right now you will have him while he is still an RFA, the deal you proposed probably isnt in the area code. If you think Nash/Ryan will fetch a good return, Weber would/should trump that.
It really depends on if Weber signs long term or not. I could see him not signing any offer sheets because he knows that Nashville will just match it. He is probably looking for a one year deal to get to be a UFA quicker.
To be honest I'm not sure how Poile is going to play this one out, and now that Suter has left I have my reservations about Weber being in Nashville long term. Bet your bottom dollar that after losing Suter for nothing, he is going to ask the farm for Weber. |

They HAVE to trade him bc there's no way he's going to re-sign now
Although if they do decide to there will prob be quite the bidding war...
So yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize someone will offer a better deal than the one I proposed |

And it would be a typical Sabres move...coming up short of addressing a serious need. - Losman
it's a good thing we didn't draft a center 12tha and 14th overall, or yeah, getting cullen, if it happened, would be considered coming up short...
i guess we're supposed to trade for Ryan, Nash, Stastny, Marleau, Toews and Kane and still keep most of our roster players, prospects, and draft picks, somehow...
