I get that 1st+Kulemin+Komi is probably in the ballpark for what Vancouver wants for Luongo, but Leafs can't afford to give up 1sts, and Kulemin just had one bad year. He will turn it around.
There are other, smarter options for the Leafs goaltending situation. Hopefully Florida overpays and this whole Luongo thing can just be done with. - abstrakt
...as he said, let's see what we have and then if we need a goalie sign a vet as a stopgap. This is not Philadelphia where we have to get all Homer stupid like every off-season |

I remember being in death valley, 50 degrees... more pleasant than 30 in TO.
I don't actually mind it anymore, got rid of a lot of the extra insulation I had, so I'm good. - Feeling Glucky?
Ha, trying living in Manila its either Hot (think 40C every day) & Torrential rains or Hot, humid and you are hoping for torrential rains.
Other than that its great! |

I'd take Luongo for a 2nd round pick, beyond that let Vancouver figure out what to do with his contract. It's still fifty million worth of cap space over ten years, even though Luongo is still good right now his best production has probably already occurred, we don't need to give up anything to take that kind of obligation on - Zezel
agree, can't see the market for Luongo being high |

Get off the drugs, Lou will not be getting a 1st in his deal. |

I'd take Backstrom because we'd have a year of a decent goalie and it would finally give Harding HIS number one spot in minny. - lightz39
What kind of message does it send to Parise and Suter if they turn around and trade their #1 goalie and have a relatively unproven starter in the crease?? Can't see them moving Backstrom.

you're a bit testy... he said it's what Vancouver wants, not what they'll get.
now if you're speaking as Burke to Gillis, then by all means...

If they MUST get someone...get Backstrom. Better contract (1 year vs 117 years in Luongo) and has put up very strong numbers no matter who is behind the bench or on the ice in front of him. - Juice

yeah there's no way they're trading Backstrom, Harding is just a good 1B, why wouldn't they hold on to both now |

Then maybe the Leafs can grab Theo as a decent insurance policy for Reimer/Scrivens. |

I think the Leafs should just go with Reimer and Scrivens, if they crash and burn then I don't mind it, better draft pick. I don't want the Leafs to get Luongo, too old for this team. |
