Hockeyy Insiderr @HockeyyInsiderr
Sources close to Toronto told me #Leafs upgraded their offer on the table for Luongo to 2013 1st+ Komisarek+Kulemin. #Canucks - MCharisma91
I'm not sure of the salaries, but this seems to be the basis of a fair trade. maybe some tweaking here and there |

Agreed. It seems like Stockholm Syndrome has taken over Leafs fans on HB. The very idea of having Luongo (not going to through his credentials again) disgusts them.
No one (with half a brain) is suggesting you give up Gardiner, Bozak and 2 1st for Lu, but you gotta give something to get a world class goalie. i saw someone suggested a 2nd for Lu staright up, SMH - TLinden16
Gardiner a 1st and a 2nd |

Why would you guys even trade kesler? He is probably the most important player on your team that i would take on the leafs or any other team. |

You act as if you own the Team, Every team in Toronto is owned by Telephone companies they care nothing for Toronto and all for profits where as vancouver canucks are owned by the Aquillini's born and raised in Vancouver. - pker2theend
Well, since Burke is making the decision anyway since Rogers/Bell hasn't taken over yet, the point is kind of moot. Pretty sure Rogers/Bell would like to get some of those profits in the form of absolutely wacko ratings for content on all their channels and devices when the Leafs improve over the longterm without Luongo. |

Gardiner a 1st and a 2nd - Oilhab
Safe to say Gardiner is not coming back in a deal solely involving Lu, and in my opinion thats fair play. He's a young D, that is good, with the potential of being very good, and he's cheap. You dont trade guys like that, not unless you are getting a low paid world beater coming back |

That's funny since I have been bringing up Backstroms name for awhile. He only has one year left on his deal, and still has some left in the tank. Only thing that would worry me is he's coming from a much more defensive minded team than the Leafs have been in recent years. I'd probably rather take the gamble on him than Luongo, even though Luongo is better at this point. |

Backstrom would be a better option for the Leafs. See if Reimer can bounce back while taking on 30ish games. He may get more if Backstrom gets hurt again. If Reimer doesn't regain his form then look for other options while continuing to develop other goalie options from within like Rynnas. I don't buy the Burke is fired if he misses the playoffs this year line.
With the Parise and Suter contracts Minny has shot to near the top of league spending overnight. They could definitely use a bit of cap relief and Hackett could take over the back up role.
Backstrom is better than anyone the Leafs have now but what does Toronto have to give up to acquire a 34 year old, 6 million dollar goalie with only 1 year left on his contract? Maybe some secondary scoring like Macarthur plus a B prospect and a middle/low pick? I really don't know. Anyone think of any recent comparable deals?
