Wow, glad to see you have no idea what you are talking about. Reimer's problems are a lot more than just the defense in front of him.
The Leafs lost ALOT of game because of goaltending, so yes, you put a great goalie on the team and they would be playoff bound. - Fakepartofme

Enough of this losing culture...you wanna attract star UFA's....start winning.
I cant stand these tank losers. - Fakepartofme
Im all for tanks and rebuilds. Just not at my age, and not when my team hasnt seen the playoffs in almost 10 years. |

Rebuilds are good, tanks are good when done properly and in a timely manner. The Leafs should have tanked 7 years ago.
It's too late now. |

Yup. They somewhat did a mini rebuild with 3 lottery picks. Schenn, Kadri and Reilly. But enough is enough. No more. Time to win, and win now.
I dont even mind trading 1sts for Getzlafs or Nashs. Just lottery protect them like they do in the NBA and giddy up.
Random Thought: Lou Lambs should have surrendered this years 1st. 29th overall. Why keep it? |

Just the usual. We're getting everyone for nothing type stuff.
I wish Burke would hurry up and make a deal, it's boring at this time of year with nothing happening. |

So does the media: keep writing articles on how this off-season is a failure (for their ratings, maybe). |

This is why Burke should be fired.
Komi and a 2nd could get us Lou and Kuli, Bozak, and Mac will get us Getzlaf.
Burke will rather keep that crap and hope instead of going for the two things we need to push us over the top. - T.Fleury

I doubt ANA moves Getzlaf until they have a clearer idea of whether or not he's going to resign. That discussion will probably happen all year. I think moving Ryan is key to that because if he goes, they free up salary they need to lock up Getzlaf and Perry next year, while also obtaining some missing pieces, youth, and/or picks to help them do a retool on-the-fly while still maintaining a top line in their prime.
Plus, I don't think UFA is ever going to be the same with the next CBA. I think there will be a cap on term/contract and front-loading will be eliminated, which means that guys like Crosby were smart to lock up now vs. waiting to cash in. Would be surprised if ANA does the same with Perry and Getzlaf.
So in short, I doubt Getzlaf gets moved; somebody will pick up Ryan this summer, thus freeing up cash for Getzlaf and Perry and giving the Ducks some useful pieces in exchange from some team that didn't get it done on the wing this summer (PITT). |

I agree. Ryan goes, Getzlaf stays.
Unless the Ducks know Getzlaf has no interest in resigning. It may not be about Anaheim affording him as much as it is losing him for nothing. A la Parise and Suter. |

Yeah, exactly, and going by Poille's comments on Suter, that conversation's going to take place all year long: he was pretty shocked/surprised that Suter didn't resign but that's a risk you take with your star guys. In hindsight, if this was Toronto, Burke would've been crucified for not moving him at the deadline. |

so do Getzlaf and Perry pull a Parise and Suter? I'd bet it's possible.
Could be what Murray is really worried about. |

This part bothers me (it's in reference to Brad Ross, Greg McKegg, Jamie Devane, Sam Carrick, Andrew Crescenzi):
Of those players, there is not a future star in the bunch, but any of them could develop into a serviceable NHL player.
You know, the author's probably right (only McKegg has some "star" upside by way of actually putting up star-like CHL point production), but just report the facts please. We get enough opinions and predictions from the "analysts" that we don't need to hear it from you. |

but ya he was just trolling. Gotta love taking poop from fans of teams in the midst of their own playoff drought.
Flames are arguably the only "market" team in worse shape than the Leafs, given their 2 best players are on the wrong side of 35 |

They could, but with next year's UFA being unlikely to produce the term/salary that we saw this year (definitely think the next CBA clamps down), might be risky: they might be better off resigning for comparable salaries as other stars have this year.
But who knows, maybe ANA can't afford to give out two 10-year front-loaded, heavily bonused contracts? |

Yup. Flames are a mess.
Just a female genetalia hair better than the CBJ's.
Leafs are in better shape than many think or care to admit. Unfortunately for Leaf fans, its still not up the standards of a playoff competetive team. |

gotta love the media... how many STARS would he like the Leafs to have out of that group - Ross is the highest pick and was a 2nd rounder. |
