Exactly. Play defense and give Reimer his Vezina
- Leafy44
I'm not saying he'd win vezina but they would be a lot more competitive.
You could put lundquist on this leafs team and they wouldn't make the playoffs. |

Kulemin may be a one time 30 goal scorer but Stastny is a three time 70 - 79 point two-way center. If you and the Leafs are serious about acquiring Stastny, the offer doesn't start with Kulemin. It starts with Lupul. Plus more. - Two_For_Truth
Soooo Kulemin is too much then? Because Lupul has never scored 30 goals, ever, and is much older than Kulemin. And more expensive.

Lupul has accomplished a lot more offensively in his career than Kulemin has. If the Avalanche really do want a big left winger, they're going to want Lupul before they want Kulemin. |

Don't kid your self BB wanted Jokinen bad but he had no interest to play for the leafs because he knows the organization is a joke.
When you have UFA players that do not want to play for the team because it sucks that's saying a lot.
Even home grown kids that make the NHL want nothing to do with their own home team.
Nash wants nothing to do with T.O its not even on his list does that not say something about the organization?
BB has to recruit over the hill americans to play for the leafs. |

I must have struck a cord with that.
Whats it say that Kane supposedly wants out of Winnipeg? You attracted Jokinen... are we suppose to be impressed? I highly doubt that Burke wanted Jokinen by the way.

Unfortunately, you missed the point that Kulemin's value is pretty low right now and that a team won't just hand over their 1st line center for him. |

When your team attracts Jokinen and no one else, it usually means "No one wants to play here".
Im glad we didn't over pay for Jokinen like Winnipeg did.
And of course Kane wants out. Who wants to play in that poopty city? |

Nobody currently wants to play for the Leafs because of hat just occured the last 4-5 years of Wilson. Bad Coaching and relatively overstated media attention to such facts are what drives players away. The Leafs in the locker room seemed to like Wilson, but he's badly mismanaged players, and as such, those assests were traded away because of this. I hate to think that when they signed Beauch way back when that the signing was actually a very strong indication that GM's have a strong impact on bringing players in. Beauch could have done so well here. What happened? Ron Wilson.
Backstrom is not going anywhere. Minnesota is ready to make playoffs; they won't dump their best Goalie no matter how much he's being paid. harding is by no means Starter material (yet or ever) and Backstrom to me is far more experienced and calm.
The only "Goalies" available for trade are Luongo, Mason and MAYBE Hiller (Big maybe). The rest would need to be swayed out of organizations at high costs with huge detrimental impact to the rest of the locker and prospect pools.
Stastny is going to cost a PMD/TWD Prospect (Think Blacker fits that bill), One of Lupul/Kadri, or two of Mac/Kuli/Lombardi/Bozak. And then if you want to get creative, you could probably pull a piece or two out of them for 2nd/3rd round picks.
Getzlaf? Great player, injury history, all star. Eric Lindros Light. Think a First Rounder, Grabovski and Gardiner to start.
