True maybe but unfortunately for Leaf fans, BB pretty much has to make the playoffs this year or he is toast, so another of crapping probably wont cut it..... - chompsey
First of all, Burke has already gone on record stating that he his not worried about his job, so you can forget that. Secondly, even if Burke is fired, how long do you think it will be before another team hires him? A couple weeks? A couple months? Would anyone be surprised if he's was asked to take the first available position? No.
Furthermore, with new ownership taking over this summer, you can bet that they'll want to assess everything from the ground up and that will take at least 1 full season. If the season happens to be shortened due to extended CBA negotiations, you can also bet that Burke will likely be given every benefit of the doubt there as well. On top of all that, Burke has just hired a new coach and with a new coach there are usually growing pains, once again Burke and Carlyle will be given the benefit of the doubt.
My guess is that Burke this AND next season to see the Leafs in the playoffs, maybe even a third season given that Carlyle's contract is also 3 years.
So please, stop with the used car salesman pitch as to why the Leafs need Luongo to get them into the playoffs. |

I do find people tend to ignore extenuating circumstances when it's good for them... like how Colorado's offense as a whole has been down since Sacco's first season, or like how Toronto's offense was high because of Wilson's all-out attack.
It's hilarious how many people think the Leafs don't even need a top line C because our offense was good enough this season... without realizing that our offense was only good because nobody was asked to actually... you know... defend. - Feeling Glucky?
Big times.
Pretty confident defense and goalies won't be the issue next time around... but other things might be.
Trying to find any more on this Kulemin + for Stastny trade. They do need a PWF LW, so it makes sense.... but man do I love Kulemin |

Luo is 33 (just) not 34, has a $5.3 million dollar hit not 6 and Backstrom may not necessarily be available and may actually cost the Leafs more to acquire.......just to say go out and get him is naive at best....... - chompsey
So, you're saying Luongo really is the best option for us but Florida is hard after him so we better get our bids up? Cause Burke is fired if he doesn't make play-offs?
I wish someone had explained all this earlier. |

Burke is finished. He's a beaten man. Why you all can't see that, I don't know. The Phil Kessel trade absolutely chopped his knees out. He's done. |

Yeah, he got his knees chopped out to the point he couldnt redeem himself with the PHaneuf trade, the Franson trade or the Lupul/Gardiner traded.

Kulemin may be a one time 30 goal scorer but Stastny is a three time 70 - 79 point two-way center. If you and the Leafs are serious about acquiring Stastny, the offer doesn't start with Kulemin. It starts with Lupul. Plus more. |
