To be honest, I think they are screwed with the Kessel deal. Have you seen that contract? Brutal. Kessel's gone after his contract expires. The leaf have no leverage with him.
- bloatedmosquito

They ought to get him a legitimate 1st line centre to deal with. That might make him stay. In fact, he doesn't have to be that good at anything but feeding Kessel the puck, because their centre depth is not that bad.

I have no idea why they didn't grab Ribeiro for peanuts. He gets like 50 assists a year.

haha what.. What kind of idiot would suggest Gudbranson might be a piece coming back for Lu. That's like the clown who said it would take Gardiner and the 5th pick

Was this the one where he said, "its been a great 6 years but its time to move on"?
So much for Gillis saying he will go to camp with Lu and Schneider...

- BoBBeR56

Yep. When asked if he'll be a Canuck next season he said "we all know what's going on... I wouldn't ever say never, but it's not likely in the best interest of all parties" or something to that effect.

I thought the same thing, but after realized. The Leafs got pushed around way too much last year. They need bigger forwards and step one was JVR. Now they need a centre, that would have just been a quick bandaid. Although seeing a playoff game would be nice as well.

I wish I could remember the Vancouver fan who was chewing me out multiple times, when I suggested Luongo would not be happy & would be a bad situation in the dressing room.

I don't want to be let down so I'm expecting two things.

1. The trade doesn't happen today(even though I do trust JJ).

2. We're not going to get much back.

Might just be a dump for a dump, after Lu's comments it's clear that MG has to move him.

Not much of an ouchie. I think Lu's talking now because a deal with FLA is done. So he's been given the green light to talk about it openly. Usually the Canucks are a tight lipped group. This has me guessing its fait accompli.

Seriously, what's next for TO? Are you guys really happy with Reimer and Scrivens heading into next season? I'm just shocked that Burke hasn't made any major upgrades anywhere because I think he's done if he misses the playoffs again.

Hard to do trades when all the fans and the GM thinks all the players are Gods.

How hilarious and ironic would it be if Tallon hears this story and then wants to re-work the trade and give up nothing which pretty much stalls the trade or maybe even cancels it.

Exactly. Why would Lu sabatage a chance to go back home if a deal was not in place? Gillis will not make a salary dump trade. He'll go to camp with Lu if he has too. No pressure on MG.

Only if he got trades to TO and they made the playoffs. Doesn't look like either are of those 2 are happening right now.

I heard Burke is interested in Marleau though.

Either way, it seems kind of unprofessional of Lu to make comments like that while he's still technically a Vancouver Canuck. I get that he's an emotional guy but he could have easily have said some BS like "I'm okay with whatever the team decides to do" or something along those lines like he did in the season ending interview.
