Whooooooa - I never said that!
I hated the Kessel deal. Still do.
I was just saying that if you want to judge Burke, you need to look at where his starting point was. - Atomic Wedgie
Judgement begins when Burke started the GM position. No muligans...he knew they needed to rebuild and everyone knows gutting the prospects is a no no....especially for one player who's contract will be up by the time the ship is righted. A huge misjudgement that Burke admitted himself when he said he over estimated how good the roster was. Burke was on strike 1 from the beginning.
I'm sure Burke loves fans that only consider what he does *after* his last mistake.

Burkie dogs! - Atomic Wedgie
I love that image of Burke chocking down that wiener. It reminds me of his contract negotiation strategy. Just replace Burkie dog with a player's junk and say no more. |

Would you do Bozak, Franson and Ashton or Lombardi, Gunnersson, Percy for Luongo and Raymond? Or neither? |

In all seriousness is JVR better than Schenn? I liked Schenn and what he brought to the ice. |

I think with Grabowski he may have had both the player and agents junk looked after |

I thought it was a great deal for both sides. Schenn is great but Burke flapped his gums and made him into something he isn't capable of. He clearly didn't learn his lesson as he appears to be doing the same thing to Reilly. JVR was hated from day #1 in philly |

I know its meaning quite well.
Canucks may get a couple pieces, mid level prospect and a pick...but not like what you all originally thought...
I recall other threads where Canuck fans were basically telling people off for suggesting it would be a salary dump...and Canucks fans said they WOULD be getting Gardiner and the 5th overall...that goofball Scooby Doo even insisted it would be Gardiner, Schenn and the 5th overall for Lu... |

I'll never forget Burke's negotiation with Burt. When it's player like Peter Schaefer or Trent Klatt he's all tough and gruff. But he was such a wussy when it can to negotiations with Burt. I remember him laying that crazy contract at the feet of the owner saying it's the owner's decision not his. Copout in the biggest way.. |

I dunno if the leafs want Raymond. They already have three "borderline top6 wingers" (JVR, Kuli and Mac).
I think the first package would be more preferable to them. Bozak>Lombardi, Gunnerson>Franson, Percy>Ashton.

Clearly he was being sarcastic. You must be like Sheldon Cooper and not understand that. However its no different then you leaf fans saying Komi and a 4th. Or Blacker, Connolly and a 3rd for any avaioabe superstar. Luongo is a great player with a horrible contract. Komisarik is a horrible player with a horrible contrac |

He did miscalculate, that is for sure...
But if the #2 overall was #10 overall, would the trade really be that bad? We did end up with a 24yr old with 4x 30goal seasons...and was 6th in the NHL in scoring last year...
Plus look at Beachemin for Lupul and Gardiner...
Phaneuf & Aulie for the junk that went to Calgary...
Lombardi & Franson for the junk that went to Nashville... |

After listening to Luongo over the radio, he certainly handled the situation with class. It sounds like he is open to a few destinations, so we'll see what happens. |

How many times have you had the pleasure of conversing with Scooby? He says things to incite. If you took him seriously then that's your fault. All Canuck fans know exactly what we'll get back. Not a home run but not a salary dump either.
