That would be lovely, but I'm making an effort to stay off the booze. I had a pretty enthusiastic long weekend and my liver needs time to contract.

Where does he fit? Second line? Booth, Kes, Lupul? Does that really work?

Edit: 25 42 67 +1 with 8 pp goals. Not bad I guess.

- bloatedmosquito

Yeah that would totally work given that Lupul is a playmaker, a huge reason Kessel had the season he did.

Mike, my dear friend...

We are doing YOU the favor here. You can get on YOUR knees this time.

With Wahington getting stronger along with Carolina ,you will not make the playoffs .We don't need a favour .

Lu to the Hawks wouldn't shock me. Especially after the Avs signed Brad May the very next season following the Burtuzzi/Moore incident. Brad was the one who publicly put a bounty on Moore's head. GMs are a silly bunch.

Sources say #Canucks are asking #Leafs to include Lupul in ANY Luongo deal, with or without Raymond being involved. Negotiations ongoing.

Furthermore, IF #Canucks include Raymond in the trade, sources say Burke would be willing to include Lupul. #Leafs

Sources say Luongo discussions have heated up in a big way and #LEAFS AND #BLACKHAWKS are kicking tires in a major way to land him.

I always thought they would be the best trading partners if we could get past the rivalry. Lets admit Leafs have little to give. Hawks have talent. They need a goalie we need D .or a 2nd line Fwd .Hawks have 14x 2 nd line Fwds . I heard Shaw had to be in the package . Lu for Hammer and Shaw and I would even throw in a second or someone else.

I still like Florida better if there's a deal there to be made.

Yuck.

Hossa's 33 (turning 34 in Jan) with 9 years left on a contract costing $5.233 million per. Stay away from any more of those types of commitments UNLESS you're giving that sort of ridiculous term to someone a decade younger. Who knows if Hossa is even going to fully recover from that Torres hit?

I still don't buy this insider but assuming this is true.

MG should definitely have no problem willing to include Raymond for Lupul. Lupul would be a very solid second line winger with Kesler and Booth and he can play both wings so he would slot perfectly on the right side. Raymond has no place on this team if we make that trade anyways, he's a good two way forward but not physical enough.

It's been rumored that the Hawks are willing to deal Hjalmarsson, but he's yet another LD, but I just read that he has played the right side before and is okay with it.

Our defense would be stacked with that trade.

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Garrison
Ballard-Hjalmarsson

That's a ton of money though, but that has to be the deepest d-core in the league. All 6 of those guys are top 4 d-men. I'd prefer the Lupul deal, especially since Luongo would be out east.

I'm not sure that's quite enough. I like Shaw, but is he really enough to be the centrepiece of that deal? Most Chi fans wanted Hammer gone, so he's essentially just a capable cap dump. I would say Chi adding a 2nd rounder, or another asset would even it up (I'm sure Chi fans will disagree, though).

Not a bad deal, but there has to be better than that out there.

I strongly believe that Gillis is simply using Chicago as leverage to work out a deal with Toronto or Florida. Luongo has more than his fair share of haters, but he would significantly approve the Blackhawks, much more than a Hjalmarsson or Shaw would improve the Canucks so it doesn't make much sense to make a rival team stronger.

I think it is the best partner too. Hawks would have to pay Hammer and Shaw before Gillis would trade to a rival.

This is kind of funny and ironic, coming from a TOR fan who always argue that GM's have to assume Luongo will play into his 40's. And besides, Hossa may never even play again at all, concussions(especially severe ones) are a very scary thing.

Guess what my friend.... lets say Lu wants to play out his whole contract... don't want a 5.3 million dollar back up? NO WORRIES! SEND HIM DOWN TO THE (frank)ING MINORS AND HIS CAP HIT IS GONE GENIUS

THIS HAS BEEN SAID LIKE A BILLION (frank)ING TIMES AND PEOPLE STILL DON'T SEEM TO (frank)ING UNDERSTAND... GET A (frank)ING CLUE

Lu will not be sent to the Wolves, I wish Canucks fans would understand that Gillis would never do that or even mention the possibility to anyone.
