Yea, because Teemu wants to come back to a team that has no chance at a playoff spot.

A coupel franchise centers looking like they'll be in that draft. Maybe that is the master plan. Sounds more like a Tambellini type of plan though.

I hear the best one to come is Connor McDavid, but he's in the 2014 draft I believe.

Lupul was great for anahiem when he started...loved him on the Flyers. He was never the same after hatcher sat on his face though

You're going to downplay Hamilton that much? I think you could put just as much hope in his potential as Seguin's.
- celata29

Not at all...but let's keep things in perspective. He hasn't played a single game in the NHL.

At least with Seguin we've seen what he can do/become

I completely agree he has a lot of talent. I am not one of those Boston fans that say he sucks, but am simply asking would you take Seguin, Hamilton, and Knight for Kessel?
- celata29

If I said yes, we'd be out an elite scoring winger. If not, (hypothetically) we'd be out a (perhaps in the near future) a top10 center and top 4 D. Either way, it's tough to say.

I actually really like Knight, I think he is a solid player that may take a few years to crack the line up, but is a 2/3rd line guy.
- celata29

If the Bruins trade for Michael Ryder, they would need to call up Knight immediately.

Getzlaf isnt going anywhere. The Leafs dont have the assets to send to the Ducks for Getzlaf. If the Ducks (repotedly) wanted Coutrier and Scheen for Bobby Ryan, they what do you think they would want back for Getzlaf. And dont give me the BS that Kadri would be the center piece to any deal. I have more trade value than he does. Toronto would have to trade, Kessel, Kadri and 1st maybe even 2 1st's for Getzlaf. And TO wouldnt do that. But then again, we are talking Burke and a Murray deal. Burke would tell Murray that the bag of pucks he is throwing in for Getzlaf will bring the cup within 2 years and Murray would salavate and take a stupid deal. Just like he did when they traded Lupul and Gardiner for Beauchimin.
- Ducksfan93

Burke: "Bob, I would like your prized assets for my overpriced, overrated players."

Murray: "Well, I am not sure about that."

Burke: "Bob, who brought you back into the NHL after your disastrous stint with Chicago?"

Murray: "Ah, you're right. You can have what you want"

This is why Murray and Burke should be banned from doing deals. The Ducks will get screwed regardless of who is involved. The Ducks need to fire him ASAP.

On a side note though, Getzlaf hated Carlyle and he and Bobby Ryan were the ones who got him fired so I am not too sure if Getz would be too fond of going to Toronto and playing for Carlyle.

The Leafs best assets are the top 5 draft picks they will be holding for the next 3 years. If they were smart they would try to rebuild properly, through their system and the draft. Trade away vets for prospects. The LEafs have zero percent chance of contending for a cup in the next couple years. So dump salry, get younger and prepare for 2016.

Dougie is supposed to be pretty awesome. I don't think he'll be on par with Seguin but maybe close.

True. Do you think Kessel will keep pace consitently with the year he had last year? I personally think that was one of the better years he will have.

If were lucky, we get Getz and Dallas Eakins becomes coach.

But look how coveted good large, puck moving, shut-down defenseman are. Of course this only matters if he pans out...just speculating. I think it's common consesus that he will though...anyone disagree?

Yep, I'm looking forward to watching this kid this season. He's apparently legit... exceptional player and all, he'd have to be.

Ek, do your sources say anything about who the leafs are going to get to replace Dupuis and his 0 points? I heard they were going to sign a plank of wood out of the KHL.

He's an impressive cat. Huge bomb from the point, big frame that moves well and unloads the big hits. The Bruins have themselves a keeper in that big D.

I honestly think that when it's all said and done, Kessel will be a consistent 35-40 goal scorer, and 80pt man in this league.

He's still very young, and has a lot of room to develop his game.

EDIT: How many 24yr olds do you know that have hit 30 goals a season since they were 20?

I think over the next few years, barring the trade or signing of a good center, his sustained production of those types of numbers are somewhat dependent on whether Lupul can keep up what he did last year. I know that seems like an obvious statement, but just making a point.

There's no reason to believe he won't continue to get 80pts. If the Leafs keep trying to improve why would his numbers drop right? He had 80pts without a Center but a good winger in Lupul. So If the Leafs adress their Center problem this summer then I would expect him to have even better numbers.

Any projection on what you think Seguin tops out at for production? Pretty similar to Kessel?

Lupul helped a lot. Even when Loops was injured, Kessel continued to make his own chances.

Um.. what Vets? That's exactly what we are doing Is Burke not allowed to upgrade his team through trades either? People seemed confused between the difference in coming in last and rebuilding through the draft and system.
