Are you sure about this one? I thought it was the other way around? Didn't burke even mention this in one of his million interviews about how great he is?

Some of it does make sense. He will be a UFA soon enough and has also been reported he may not want to stay in ANA any longer. So maybe not the Leafs but somewhere so they do not lose him for nothing

The idea of trading Getzlaf I could buy, I just dont see the fit with TO. Again, its not that the Leafs dont have the assets to get it done, I just dont see the trade lining up so both sides are happy.

Also, no one knows if Getzlaf is going to sign.

The trade wasn't Lupul for Beach with Gardiner being thrown in...

The sad thing is, the Ducks needed a proven D man at that time and Lupul wasnt playing up to his contract. And Burke knew that the Ducks needed someone on the back end dearly. But Beauchimin has played great for us since he got traded back. So I am not made about the deal They both were struggling and went on to greener pastures.

Agree with you 100% about a Lupul vs. Beauch comparison...but it's Gardiner that made the trade incredibly lopsided.

And Burke has gone on record to say that Gardiner was the guy he was targeting, not Lupul.

I thought it was basically you get Gardiner but you take Lupul's contract...

Well, regardless, the duo came as a package. I've heard both reasons before. In the end, it worked out great for the Leafs and thats all that really matters.

If Ducks are moving Getz...he is the #1 centre the Leafs have needed since Sundin left...
Ducks/Leafs have got together on a few deals, I could see this going down again...hard to come up with a value for Getz being that he is a UFA after the season and had a terrible season...

I don't see Burke moving Dion. He is the poster boy for what Burke wants in a player. I think Burke would rather deal any player in the organization before Dion

Semin isn't half the player Alex Aemin is.

Being honest, I'd say thats a pretty hefty fee to pay for Getzlaf. I dont care for Kadri, never have, but Reilly is going to be good and I actually like Kulemin a lot, despite not having the best of seasons. Plus, Suck it Phaneuf.... who's contract blows, but is a pretty good PP weapon. Hefty.

Lydman-Beauchemin-Fowler-Sbisa-Souray-Allen there's 6 signed right there, all for under $4 mil apiece and all of a sudden Murray's going to trade our number one center for a defenseman they don't need with a ridiculous contract?
