Getzlaf isnt going anywhere. The Leafs dont have the assets to send to the Ducks for Getzlaf. If the Ducks (repotedly) wanted Coutrier and Scheen for Bobby Ryan, they what do you think they would want back for Getzlaf. And dont give me the BS that Kadri would be the center piece to any deal. I have more trade value than he does. Toronto would have to trade, Kessel, Kadri and 1st maybe even 2 1st's for Getzlaf. And TO wouldnt do that. But then again, we are talking Burke and a Murray deal. Burke would tell Murray that the bag of pucks he is throwing in for Getzlaf will bring the cup within 2 years and Murray would salavate and take a stupid deal. Just like he did when they traded Lupul and Gardiner for Beauchimin.

Apples and oranges. Lupul never proved anything other than he could get hurt a lot. Good for him he finally had a break out season but before that, no one was excited about him. Gardiner was thrown in because of Lupul's contract and Beauchemin is a pretty good top 4 D (a signing I actually liked of Burke's regardless of how it turned out). You're talking about Getzlaf here though, a legit top line center on most teams.

So... the Ducks were saying previously that they want to trade Ryan and get a legit number 2 center back.... but the new rumour is to deal Getzlaf, their only legit number 1 or 2 center, to a team who doesn't have a legit number 1 center, and basically leave themselves in the same situation.

The Ducks rumour makes zero sense. The Leafs don't have what the Ducks need and them dealing Getzlaf puts them back. No part of it makes sense.

The sad thing is, the Ducks needed a proven D man at that time and Lupul wasnt playing up to his contract. And Burke knew that the Ducks needed someone on the back end dearly. But Beauchimin has played great for us since he got traded back. So I am not made about the deal They both were struggling and went on to greener pastures.

Some of it does make sense. He will be a UFA soon enough and has also been reported he may not want to stay in ANA any longer. So maybe not the Leafs but somewhere so they do not lose him for nothing

the rumor is the guy they are targeting is Getzlaf out of Anaheim.
