so the leafs want getzlaf? who doesn't? but are they gonna give up the farm to get a player who is a ufa next year and may not resign? if any kind of deal is made, they would have to make sure hes gonna be locked up for a long time. that bein said him between phil and lups would be crey |

it would be a lot to get Getzlaf here, i would like him a lot but it would cost a ton, maybe more then what he could actually do for us. |

To everyone saying boston is incredible and will be for a while due to the kessel trade... YOU ARE RETARDED... look at Capgeek and tell me how they are going to keep all of the pieces in boston.... please just try.... - blueinwhite
Between Thomas and Savard there's 9mil already free next season. Almost all their free agents next year are RFA's and unless the CBA changes the Bruins will own their rights. |

Nice pay day for him eh? Play like crap and get paid what 6.somethingM a year? - celata29
i have a buddy who was very close friends growing up with him (still is very good friends).
redden's play really went downhill after his mom passed away. apparently they were VERY close. it could be just a coincidence but my buddy seems to think that he never recovered from that. either way, it's kinda sad to see what happened to his career. |

next year's ufa class (if most of these guys don't re-up) will be insane compared to this year.
this year was nothing but 2nd and 3rd tier guys (aside from the obvious 2 or 3). |

He's still got two years left at $5 million.
I don't watch a lot of AHL - was he at least good with the Whale this year?
If we went on re-entry waivers, would anyone be smart to gamble on him at $2.5 million a year?
I can't help but think the guy could make a contribution at $2.5 milly a year |
|
|
|
So you think trading a guy from the Flyers to the Leafs would raise his spirits?
And then trading him to...well..any of the 25 teams that finished above the Leafs last season would make him sad? - Atomic Wedgie
No
All I was saying is that if a player is traded to a team, he has to do things like find a place, and plan for his family
Regardless of whether or not JVR has a family, there is an unwritten rule that you don't trade for a player, sit on him for 3 weeks, and deal him.

Yeah, but we say that every year.
And every year, the guys never make it to UFA status. |

I'm hearing Luongo to the Leafs by Monday...Komi and a prospect to be included the other way; may have other players (throw ins) and picks for either team to make it work...take this how you want, but there's some serious legs to this and it's coming down...source;"Luongo wants this done more than Nash does!"... stay tuned! |

Will look more like a hockey deal than most think...will help both teams...as I said; take this with what you want, and as with all rumours, with a grain of salt. That said, there's serious talk between the two camps.

Detroit has lost a lot of defenseman this offseason, leaving an obvious hole, and now they want to fill it with Semin....again, intersesting. Not that there's anything wrong with that...i think? - 10baci
Except maybe for the actual wording of your post...."leaving an obvious hole, and now they want to fill it with Semin..." woah Nelly! kinky. |

he'd be at 3.25 wouldn't he? i think his salary is 6.5 (too lazy to check).
in any event, i wondered the same thing about taking him at "half off." i honestly refuse to believe that he isn't better than some of the plugs roaming the blue line for a lot of teams (including the one i root for).
as for your ufa comment, i concur with one caveat; a new cba may make a lot of these players wait til next summer just to see how everything shakes out. |

The deal as I hear it being worked out would be interesting; I'm in no way suggesting Komi will be the centrepiece going to vancouver...his salary needs to go the other way. That said, I also don't think he's as bad as everyone is making him out to be and a change of scenery may make a world of difference. All I was saying is, I'm hearing he's included... |

Burke just parted with a decent stay at home defenceman to get a decent C/W.
Both have the potential to be good players
They haven't even tried him out, and you want him to be traded.
Of course if the trades that these delusional fans are putting out there include JVR make sense, then fine.
But they are not going to happen.
Burke doesn't work that way.
You're suggesting that leafs should acquire players, and hold on to them for a week.
Then flip them without even trying them out to see if they are a fit for the team.
If that is the case, good luck to any player signing in Toronto.
And good luck attracting any player to Toronto.
Kessel has a greater chance of being moved than JVR does.
He's at least played for the Leafs. |
