Most Leafs fans thought we would be having a parade in late June.

And yes, their roster was that bad.

Our centres were Grabbo (and a very young Grabbo at that), Hanson, a completely green Bozak, Wallin and Primeau. That's Wayne Primeau, by the way.

And Toskala (our "starter" - I wish I could put in bigger exclamation marks) was coming off a year of 3.26 GAA, .891 GAA. And best of all, it didn't bother him. He felt everything was hunky-dory, and didn't want to work with the goaltending coach. And did I mention he underwent multiple surgeries that summer?

So yeah, I'm not using 20/20 hindsight when I say that Burke should have known Boston was getting an excellent pick.

I could see Getzlaf being traded...he was very sluggish last year, perhaps it was a motivation issue, perhaps he's out of shape, and maybe he's just too slow...either way he is a UFA at the end of the season, and I don't see him fitting into ANA long term plans. His UFA status at the end of next year makes his value a bit less, as does his off-pace season and general sluggishness. TOR could take him, although I am not sure how well he will actually do. I would suspect the trade would include JVR and a guy like Blacker.

As a PENS fan I would LOVE to see Perry (also a UFA next year), but he'll be significantly more costly. However, not as much as Ryan who is a bit younger and signed for a couple of more years. IF ANA would look to deal him, I would suspect they would like a solid D prospect or two in return, along with an offensive prospect. I'd hesitate to offer Morrow/Despres + Bennett because of the UFA status, but it would cost AT LEAST that much I think...

No its a regular guy, not since Arnold in T2 has a "robot" had such life like muscle movements..

ducks arent trading a guy like ryan/perry for a couple of prospects. pens have nothing to offer to land a player via trade. aside from their core players (who arent going anywhere), the pens dont have any assets that can entice a team to trade a star player to them.

that being said, leafs wont just trade jvr when they just acquired him. and i doubt they have anything worthwhile that the ducks would want. they can easily get a better package elsewhere, so dont count one of anaheim's big three coming to toronto via trade.

If the Bruins trade for Michael Ryder, they would need to call up Knight immediately.

That is ridiculous!
JVR will not go anywhere!
If he were part of a trade, it would have been traded immediately.
That would affect the integrity of the GM, raising the spirits of the player before you trade him for a "better" player.
Believe it or not, that will ultimately affect who signs in TO in the future
There are a handful of untouchables on the team, and JVR is one of them....for at least this year

The Leafs will have more luck with the Getzlaf out of the CFL.
