You're right on many teams he likely would've made it. Again, you're misreading what I'm saying, I've already said I think Hamilton can develop into a top 2 d-man, as in top pairing. I just don't think he's a franchise d-man. Could he prove me wrong? Sure. But don't be like Leaf fans, don't put unrealistic expectations on a guy. It's realistic to expect him to make Boston this year, it's also realistic that it will take a few years before he's on the top pairing.

I never said he was going to be a franchise dman...i think was the guy with the flaming bag on head avatar...I just agree with him that he is closer to Seguin than most think, meaning alot of people just look at the deal straigth up seguin for kessel and forget about Hamilton. Honestly, as much as I like what Kessel gives us, the trade still hurts.
You really have to give something to get something. I just think Kessel isnt what a lot of our fans "like" per say, if he scored as many as he did now but also crushed people and become a fan favorite then no one would care.

We gave up a lot but got a top 10 in scoring. End of story

The only issue about that trade was a miscalculation by Burke over-evaluating what he had on the roster. If the Leafs even finished 10th overall both years, no one would have said anything negative about this trade.

EXACTLY. A lot of my friends and fellow Bruins fans were pissed about the trade, but I was happy because (no offense) I didn't think the leafs team was that strong and could turn out to be a relatively high pick (not necessarily 2 though)

It is very true, had we ending up with 10th pick overall instead of #2 it wouldnt be spoken about. Also lets say Kessel was Getzlaf (for poop and giggles) no one would be complaining i think

Leafs should trade Matt Frattin, Komisarek, and Mike Brown for Getzlaf and Ryan. I agree it would be a huge overpayment by Toronto but you have to give to get. Maybe get Anaheim to throw in there 2013 1st to even things out a bit. It will problably turn out to be a 30th pick when the Ducks win the cup but it will help the leafs build for the future.
