Though realistically, if there is a trade, it won't cost as much or as little as we all think. None of us are ever right in terms of what a player is traded for.

Who says Hamilton (defensemen of the year OHL) is a #2? Just because he was drafted 8th and Seguin 2nd means (frank) all. Seriously, Hamilton is a monster. And not only that he is a brain child, he will learn everything from Chara, an elite defensmen, how to play. Seguin does not have an elite talent to learn from, nor the attitude, or size, to exceed like Hamilton does. Not saying Seguin sucks, just Hamilton hurts far worse in that trade.

I think the real point is the Bruins ended up with two things not easily acquired. A top pairing D with a bomb, size, mobility and hockey IQ along with a number 1 center with wheels and IQ. Not often you make a deal that acquires both in one deal.

A monster eh, are we talking Drew Doughty monster? Are we talking Zach Bogosian monster? Is he a Cam Fowler monster? Are we talking Shea Weber monster? Calling him a #2 is no criticism, but Seguin is a #1 centre, and has the potential to be an elite centre. Hamilton might make top 4 this year, and he has the potential to be a top pairing. My point is, lets not appoint the kid a franchise d-man. If he has that potential, then Erik Karlsson is the next Bobby Orr. Last year all I heard was Rundblad would be a top pairing d-man, well now he's in a new organization. After the 08 draft, and end of the 08 season, Pietrangelo was down on most people's draft lists, saying he wasn't as good as the big two (bogo and doughty). From 2003-2007, everyone preferred Phaneuf over Weber. I think for sure Dougie Hamilton will be a solid d-man, do I see him as the franchise player that Seguin is closer to becoming? My opinion is no. It's too early to tell with him, but can you see Seguin becoming one? Yes. He's performing at the NHL level.

Yeah that's why I offered a TO fan Seguin, Hamilton, and Knight for Kessel to kind of gauge return. It's quite alot, but as pointed out two are still prospects and one is playing well. I just truly believe these ones will work out, but then again so doesn't every teams fanbase. It just seems alot of people with no attatchment to the Bruins seem to agree, which hardens my position.

Yeah I get what you're saying...but if we could improve, then why not? Sure, I like those wingers we have...but Bobby Ryan or Chris Stewart wouldn't be an upgrade/improvement to you? Over MacA, Kulemin, Kadri? I love Frattin, so I really hope we don't part with him...but I'd gladly have Ryan or Stewart over MacA/Kule/Kadri.

Although I agree with you that Hamilton is going to be a great player, I don't think it can be said that one is going to be better than the other. Also Seguin was on the line with Bergeron and Marchand last year, which I would argue is our top line (we never really had a first line last year according to the team)
