So I assume Crosby reaching out to Parise means the Pens GM sux too.

Huh? I just stated that Snow is a horror show when it comes to talking in public and Weight seems to handle it and enjoy it more. What is wrong with you?

2 years ago i went to get out of my seat and one of my shoes was still on the floor after my first step, true story.

Its firggen upsetting... NVMC is one of my all time "Happy places" I have seen SO many games, so many great players & teams. Some of the best concerts i have ever been to. To see what it has become.. its really heartbreaking.

Place sounds awesome for concerts & Not a single bad seat for a hockey game. On the other hand the concourse is a friggen mess, the bathrooms are ill conceived, the skyboxes are all outdated. The arena it self looks like it gets cleaned once a season... the floor is always sticky, the seats arent all that comfortable. But the BIGGEST problem for these players comming to look at signing with us.. is the locker room & the amenities for the players... If you have ever been in our locker room you would know its out dated... but if you ever saw the locker rooms of other NHL teams.... we dont even come close.. The Islanders' rival my old High School... THAT is a reason for no free agents. Trust me the players could care less if we have nice bathrooms, or good food in the concourse.. THEY want nice stuff for THEM.

This is the point I've tried to make the last 5 times we've had this discussion here. During the stadium boom of the late 1980;s and early 1990's in the NFL you always heard players mention that the facility was a major reason for their signing. They said this for a reason, first off, it was true. Secondly, it circulated word to other players that "Hey, this is a great place to work". I've played in some pretty crappy buildings and also played in some awesome ones. Given the choice, I think I'd rather make my living in the one that isn't ready to fall in!

Just look at the Rags & Flyer locker rooms during the 24/7 series.... those places looked like palaces. Ours cant even compare to their visitor locker rooms.

Been away for the last few days with no Internet. I'm guessing we didn't do anything given the blog title that reads like an excuse?

I've been in several of the lockerooms on the east coast and some of them are unreal. Not to mention the excercise rooms! Anyone who thinks this doesn't play a significant role in a UFA's choice is fooling themself.

Imagine having two job interviews, one is for a successful company in a penthouse, the other in the projects. Then you're asked to commit to one or the other for 5-10 years where you'll spend several hours a day!

It certainly doesn't help but in no way do I think it's as significant as some people think/say. I would say it has more to do with Wang/Snow, there reputation and the way they are perceived around the league and their commitment to winning more than anything.

And I'd argue that point is generally wrong because we didn't exactly have free agents knocking the doors down before Wang came here. That said, I do agree that Wang's looneyness and Snow's poor reception from the media probably doesn't help matters. Another issue as I mentioned last year still exists with taxes. If you're a player making $3 million a season and you're faced with NY's unreal taxes as opposed to Texas, it's an easy decisioin from an investment standpoint. NY is losing all of their wealthy residents for a reason. Sure, some come to play for the Rangers but it's because of the allure.

Wang and Snow? Yes. Kidding. Yeah, it probably is a combination of everything but a large part is due to management/owner. Everytime these guys pick up the Hockey News or read tsn OR listen to a sports caster the Isles are getting bashed and made fools of. Perpetualy lottery team, the DP circus, etc... Would you not want to play for that team because of that or the locker room not being up to par?

Correct. BUT they didn't completely throw out the idea either. Now the Islanders are not even a thought process for these guys.

Why is this even a debate? How many articles do you have to read, how many interviews do you have to see? How many jokes do you have to hear? I mean, snap out of it. It may suck but it's reality.
