It is one of the glaring inconsistencies of Snow's tenure. Example; him suddenly realizing we were small and soft with a shallow blue line. Well ok then, lets go out and draft ALL big Dmen!

I can see him at the first of the year, his team comes out on the ice, and he is happy. And the other team comes on the ice, and they are 3or 4 inches taller and 25 lbs heavier. Snow looks at Wanger and gulps..oh, poop are we lookin small..

Note to self, bigger players next year.

How do you explain Capuano? He must have lost that note the year before last

He knows what Identity he wants for this team?? Really?? One year their tough the next year they're soft and now they're tough again. He drafted smaller fast players and now he is drafting guys who are big. He is all over the map. He has no clue on how to build a team. You have no problem with a GM who has no experience at all at being a GM and putting him in charge of a complete rebuild starting from scratch??? Would you hire somebody to build up your company who had absolutely no experience in the field you're in? Yeah those other teams who rebuilt over time and had success had GM's who knew what they were doing. Not clowns off the street

Edit. Bailey, Trading up twice to take Dehaan, Nino at 5??

- Vukota

Snow did build up our prospects. He is the best GM in the world. Wang saved this team back in the day so we need to go along with everything he says and does cause it is all in interest of the ISlanders. I mean that Tattoo Parlor he put in last year was amazing and really helped out this clubs morale through the year. I mean why spend money on players when you can spend it on a Tattoo booth?

I think most of our fans have given this a chance. I mean we are not getting better and usually with a rebuild there is an improvement each year.
- kasperrko

how do you not see VAST improvement? went from an empty prospect pool to a top 5 prospect pool in the nhl, isnt that the very definition of a rebuild? start with a foundation

hahah wouldnt that mean that he now has a mix of small, fast players who will be protected by big players???

im not fan of wang, anyone who has read what ive written (and doesnt point there finger without backing it up) knows that. if i were wang and was looking for a new gm to rebuild my team garth would not have been my first choice but im not ready to say garth was a bad hire; not by a long shot.

im not ready to question whether any of those 3 were bad selections (ESPECIALLY dehaan and nino)....

Ah I di dgive him credit for the prospect pool to me though that means nothing. Half tyhose prospects will turn out to be nothing or released or go back to ther country. Our foundation is there I see that but the NHL club is the one suffering we need help there. I guess I am just sick of waiting. I am not a patient guy and here in New York we usually want results fast

[quote=kasperrko]Problem is the Oilers are not addressing there needs. Which is goaltending and defense. It is like the Islanders they do the same thing they never address what is needed for the team. I will say the Islanders did better this year addressing defense but offense is also a horror show. That has still not been addressed. Do I see the Islanders making the playoffs with the team we have? No way but I do hope they prove me wrong
- Cptmjl[

With the team they have assembled now they will not make the playoffs. It does not take a genius to figure that out. Anyone who thinks this is a playoff team is nuts, plain and simple.

The prospect pool is there, how good it is is debatable? Some of Snow's choices during the last few drafts are questionable. I understand its the draft and it's a crap shoot to an extent. Snow has to be able to add other pieces to make this team competitive. Carkner and Boulton and even Boyes are not significant upgrades in anything. Carkner is a physical player so I like it. I actually like these signings all together but as Vukota stated earlier the guy is all over the place and did this improve the team realistically? There doesn't seem to be any vision like he claimed. At this point I have no idea what kind of team Snow is trying to build, do you?
There should be after five years a clear picture of where this team is heading or at the very least it should have some kind of identity besides being a lottery team. I know there is more time to improve the team before the season starts but what's left to work with? Not a whole hell of a lot. There needs to be so much more added to this team for them to just be competitive let alone make the playoffs. If he is going to do this remains to be seen, I have my doubts as well should every other fan. He is not done anything so far to make me think otherwise. You guys will be saying ten years from now how great our prospect pool is and some of you will be waiting for the draft in december. Some of you guys actually think it's fun.
Me, I have had enough of being the joke of the NHL and would like to see the team at least compete some nights. I just don't see that happening next year at this point. How can anyone see that with this team?

Honestly no BS no it isn't safe to say that. I wouldn't have picked them to win the cup but I knew they were going to the playoffs. Especially after their GM made changes to enable them to do so. Coach/players/etc... What did we do when things weren't going right? That's right, nothing. Not a god damn thing. In fact we did less than nothing. We held on to a player that had value and got nothing back for him at the deadline, we are rebuilding right? That's a good move? We signed up for another year with a coach who is so obviously not capable of the job who had a losing record in the NHL/AHL. These are questionable moves/non moves at best.
Some of you think these moves and the FACT that Snow sits there with his hand in his pockets as pure genius. What are you going to say next spring when we knew we were out of the playoffs in december? Wait till next year? We have all been down this road before. Snow said five years, some people get pissed because it's been 5 years and this team has shown nothing! How dare they! Some of you call us idiots for getting pissed and say we should have known it wasn't going to be five years which is laughable. Three years from now if this team is a lottery team what's the excuse going to be? How many more years do you give Snow? Would we still be stupid for thinking it was going to take five years(which is what Snow said)?

A-..friggin..Men..I truly don't get it. Why come on here everyday to just sht all over the team u are rooting for.. .I understand the idea of venting when something you wanted to happen doesn't but to come on and just dump all over your own team seems pointless to me.

We had a guy in the top 10 in NHL in points last year. He is 21 years old and this is the first time the Isles have had a guy in top 10 since Yashin... This is a pretty good sign.

We had another guy on his wing score 30 goals for the 3rd consecutive year. That has not happened since Ziggy I believe... he is also in his 20's.. pretty good sign.

We have another group of young guys who lask consistency (which happens a lot with young players.. see Beruzzi, Chara, Loungo and every other young guy we quit on too soon that become super stars after they left.) .... but show flashes of what they can/will become in Bailey, Grabner, Okposo, Hamonic, Amack, Matt Martin.... a good sign.

We have prospects... very very good prospects that other teams would love to take off our GM's hands if he starts thinking like you guys .... Nino, Strome, Brock, Mayfield, Reinhart, Kabonov, Casey C., Ullstrom, etc. .. some may not pan out.. but some will.. period. .. a very good sign.

We have tons of cap room.... all our GUYS are locked up and we have boat loads of cap room. ... this too is a good sign.

Who said anything about giving away the prospects?

They've had tons of cap room for years now. What good is it if you don't use it? Snow needs to find a way to get creative and get JT some help. Its year 5 now and still not close to a playoff team if the season started tomorrow. At this pace it will take about 8 years for the rebuild and even then there is no guarantee that it will have worked. At some point the next step has to be taken.

not me... I was referring to the fact that we do HAVE prospects. They are very good prospects not garbage which the wolfpack would have everyone believe. They are legitimate elite NHL prospects that other teams would like to have... not the garbage people on here think..

the next step has to be taken... but it has been hindered very heavily by injury and a shtt goalie situation which is clearly the most important position. This year the islanders HAVE to make the playoffs.. HAVE TO.

It usually starts when somebody makes a ridiculous comment regarding how good of a job Snow is doing or some BS excuse regarding why Wang is such a joke of an owner.

We had a guy in the top 10 in NHL in points last year. He is 21 years old and this is the first time the Isles have had a guy in top 10 since Yashin... This is a pretty good sign.

JT is a stud we all know that. Still can't win with just one guy

We had another guy on his wing score 30 goals for the 3rd consecutive year. That has not happened since Ziggy I believe... he is also in his 20's.. pretty good sign.

And for the 3 rd consecutive year they missed the playoffs by a wide margin

We have another group of young guys who lask consistency (which happens a lot with young players.. see Beruzzi, Chara, Loungo and every other young guy we quit on too soon that become super stars after they left.) .... but show flashes of what they can/will become in Bailey, Grabner, Okposo, Hamonic, Amack, Matt Martin.... a good sign.

Jury is still out on most of them, can't kill them or praise them right now. Outside of Hamonic of course

You hope some of them pan out, and when you factor in 3 of those guys were taken in the top 5 of the draft they better pan out

We have tons of cap room.... all our GUYS are locked up and we have boat loads of cap room. ... this too is a good sign.
