Not the same situation though. Bobby Ryan is 25 and Getz and Perry just turned 27. Iginla is 35 and Kiprusoff is 36. The three Ducks are just entering their primes, not exiting them like Iginla and Kiprusoff. - adamz86
I know its not the same situation. But lets be honest, guys are jumping ship. That sucks, if there was any other team in the league I'd root for it would be the ducks. It's time to lock Perry up (if they even can) and start rebuilding |

The kid reminds me of Suter actually (but thats me being biased again)

Pavelski plays between Couture and Clowe what sort of failed attempt at an argument is this........ - Alexzanki
Oh and Pavelski is younger. By a month. Not a big deal, but it's better than being older than him. Frankly I find Nash to be one of the most overrated players in the game. |

He reminds me of Carter, can't excel unless he has a star on his side, Nash is grossly overpaid and I don't think he's more then a solid 80 pt player at his best |

They can talk about Shane Doan all they want but after playing for one franchise his entire career I'd make a little wager he wants to go to a contender.. |

I meant when Calgary went to the finals they were never the same after shipping out key players whereas the Ducks never maintain their play after the cup win for the same reasons - kovalchukTML
I would say the Ducks haven't been the same because they have lacked secondary scoring behind the RPG line. Burke traded Andy McDonald after they won and he and Teemu had unbelievable chemistry.
Next season, Murray decided to deal Chris Kunitz for Ryan Whitney, which was a bust. They have had Teemu but have not provided him with good players on his line since they won the Cup.
The Ducks have been a one-line team since that Cup win. As the RPG line went, so went the team. If they don't play great in a playoff series, the team had no chance.

What Eklund is talking about is actually the Leafs are moving JVR to center during camp, it should be interesting considering he's only taken 8 Faceoffs in his career |

I would love to say yes but not for the Kings but I can see someone playing him as maybe a 4-5-6 defender.
I dont see why a team wouldnt take a chance with him if they needed the defense.
4 years in the AHL some players need time ESPECIALLY defenseman. Just a bad choice for the Kings when they took him 4th |

I agree. The team is a trainwreck. They were the fifth worst team this past year. My prediction is that they will be fighting for the #1 pick next year assuming that Bobby Ryan is gone.
I don't know what Getz and Perry want to do next offseason, but after seeing Parise sign for $98M, I am sure hitting free agency sounds better by the day, especially for a 50 goal scorer like Perry. |

They dont need to rebuild, far from it. They have a stocked farm system with players ready to make the team such as Palmieri, Etem, Vatanen, Holland, Smith-pelley. Their problem last year was with Hiller not being the same, defensive play, 2nd line center consistency and offensive production from Perry/Getzlaf/Ryan underperformed. It didnt help them that Visnovsky got hurt.
Getting a 2ndline center for Ryan helps them now and the future, replacement for Ryan would be filled by Etem/Palmieri.
If they can get some production from Etem/Palmieri/Smith-Pelley and the new defense holds up + Fowler/Sbsia continue to improve they should be closer to where they were in 2010-11 season. Years later they have guys like Lindholm, Friberg, Rakell making the team. |

I agree. That's not why Burke got him. Burke got him to score goals, be a presence in front of the net and use his size to win puck battles along the boards. Not to win face-offs and be the defensive responsibility on his line. |

I think Semin and fellow Russian Kovalchuk would be awesome.
Was tough losing Parise but seeing him move on to his home team and considering JP Parise was a famous North Star who still lives in Minnesota makes it a meaningful move. |

I understand, but whatever team grabs him his making a huge bet that he'll miraculously produce more outside of Columbus. His average is over 9 years, so it's not like a small sample...
Anyways...just my opinion. |
