I don't want to see more than one guy on defense make the jump from the Marlies this season. The Leafs should be holding onto Franson. - Jeffmt

It's all posturing. We in Van know his BS. Can smell it all the way from here.
What other GM gets on the front page of TSN or Sportsnet for just opening his trap (i.e., his assessment about July 1, his guarantee that their tinkering is not done, etc.)? - akira55
Burke's presence doesn't mean all he says is untrue. There is a difference between Burke speaking fact, "NO LUONGO" and Burke opening his mouth like Burke, "We're going to go in the draft and get Jon Tavares" |

That bottom 3 D is terrible.... and that top 6 is really questionable and slow.
I agree though... they will be much better than last year.

The only one in the top six I would say is slow is Jagr. |

What does it take to get Ryan and Getzlaf ? - .HOHO.
Since Bob Murray is Burke's whipping boy and has an IQ of 20, for you guys, he would probably want a couple of second rounders, a mid level prospect, and he would also be willing to take Lombardi and Komisarek's contracts off your hands so Toronto could fit the $10.5M of Getz/Ryan's contracts under the cap.
In Murray's world, that is fair. |

In some NHL circles, a more drastic solution is envisioned. The Coyotes could simply be folded, its 23 players sent to other NHL teams through a dispersal draft and the league would operate with 29 teams next season.

WTF, that would be terrible, I'm sure if the coyotes and glendale get all screwed up the nhl would move the team to quebec. They also would most likely make back what theyve lost in PHX in 1 season with quebec. |

I find it hard to believe Getzlaf will be moved unless the return is rather significant with respect to center prospects. They really have no one coming up to replace Getzlaf or take over in the mean time...dosnt really scream "Deal with the Leafs" to me...maybe another team with better prospective depth at center? |

Let me guess, even though Toronto has had to contribute more than any other team annually to revenue sharing theyd get 29th choice at players on the team...haha
I agree they should be folded, how many more years are we gonna have to hear this same nonsense, everyone saying theres no chance for the team to survive there and Bettman saying everything is great there and the team will be successful in phoenix... |

Yes I understand what people are talking about. There are a handful of guys like that which are a #1C. He still has size, he is not Derek Roy etc etc. - jsam7
You don't have to have size to be a #1C.....you need 80 pt potential first and foremost. Stastny has that. I actually think he'd be a great fit between Lupul and Kessel. |

Unless Ducks know that next year when he is a UFA he's gonna split and ask for big $$$ so trade him now before all the speculation begins about going to the team he really wants. |

Their top two lines look wicked....but with two 40-year-olds on there, burnout and/or injury have to be a little bit of a concern. |

Clowe + Niemi + pick would be my guess. |

It's also hard to believe that any team would want to deal a four-time 30+goal scorer who is 25 years old and has three years left on a contract that has a cap hit of $5.1M. Most teams would consider that asset with that kind of contract untouchable as well, except for the Ducks.
Getzlaf has one year left on his contract so some type of deal involving him would not be surprising. |
