I have a pretty unusual stance but it works for me. I also worked out my slice by really focusing on pushing the club in a straight line as opposed to just trying to swing through the ball.

Yeah I agree with you, if you consciously try to push the ball straight it helps... but then I find I lose quite a bit of power. I am hoping changes in grip, or stance, or wrist position will help me keep the club head square and keep the velocity up.
