Again, Lupul for Stastny is a horrible idea and woud be completely idiotic of Burke to do.

According to many posts in this thread Stastny is worth a Kings ransom despite putting up Mac numbers, two years in a row.

I'm not a huge fan of him, but I wouldn't mind to have him on the team, if he wasn't overpaid - which he is.
But that idea of trading Lupul (creating a hole, breaking up the chemistry between him and Kessel) just to file a hole with someone who is small and hasn't put up more than 60 pts in two years is complete nonsense.

I'd hardly call trading from a position of strength (wing), for a position of weakness (center), to be idiotic. You have to give to get.

Fill one hole to create another? Not something Burke wants to do....and definitely not for the type of player Stas is.

If JVR's apparently capable of centering our top line (and Carlyle's confirmed it), you don't think he's capable of playing LW on the top line?

Carlyle hasn't confirmed anything. He said he would like to try him at center just because he's big.
We'll still need a real center.

Or could it be Statsny scores in two bad years for him what Mac scores in a couple of career years? His last two seasons doesn't exactly negate the fact that he previously score 71, 79 and 78 points. To which outside of one career year Mac has not even come close to.

Carlyle's going to try him as our #1 center during pre-season. That to me tells me that he's capable of filling the top LW role on our team as well. To put it another way, if he fails as the #1 center, that doesn't fail him as a top line winger automatically.

And I like Lupul, I like the chemistry between Kessel and him, but the fact is we have a winger in JVR who's capable of replacing him makes him an asset worth moving to get a #1 center, especially one who's very good both ways, fits into our age group, and is very good playmaker: just think of him setting up Kessel...

And with better wingers in JVR and Kessel (assuming Lupul gets dealt in exchange; total speculation, obviously but it's Friday) instead of McGinn and Jones, that point total would be a thing of the past.
