Burke is an idiot I look at the Leafs team and you have to ask yourself would they have been better off with Doug Armstrong as gmt ?
It's almost like players do not want to play in Toronto anymore.
Say what you want about other eras but even when Quinn was gm the Leafs had elite talent - duckyjets
Meaning washed up Ontarian players who did well on other teams?
Or was that the JFJ era |

*Breaks into Belorussian National Anthem* - markmark
I dunno about the Belarussian national anthem, but the Russian National Anthem is the best. No other anthem is even close. |

Now the Coyotes, since Doan may be gone, unless Bettman will ask for another handout, seems that is what the Leafs are good for nowadays in the NHL. |

Thing is, we don't know how well he's doing in the eyes' of the team: staying on the ice and controlling the play vs. trying to make a big hit? Debatable outcome, coach (at least Wilson) would always favour him not getting into fights, running around, etc. and the Captain reports to the coach.
As for media delivery, I agree, and if he put some work into that it would do a lot to disuade the masses. Having said that, Sundin used to take a lot of heat for not showing "emotion" in interviews. Now looking back at his career, away from the heat of the moment, I think it's universally agreed upon that Sundin was a great Captain for our team and one of the all-time Leaf greats. - gravyface
Sadly Mats never did, and probably won't get the accolades he deserves. He literally carried some very bad Leaf teams on his back. |

What does Sundin have to do with any of this???.......Just because someone is #1 on the Leafs D doesn't make them a true #1......and Sutter was a #2 by the way..........Phaneuf is replaceable!!!
We arent talking about trading Chara or Webber for Getz..........its Friken Dion Phaneuf.....a Quality defenseman but not a Stud.......Idealy if we could trade for Getz with out including Dion, Lets do it...........but i ask you this...who would you rather have.........Phaneuf or Gardiner?? - billyberg10
K you only encourage my argument by saying that a #2 D got 98 million when available. And Franson is a quality defensemen, Allen is a quality defensemen. Phaneuf is a stud. He's not Weber/Chara, but he's in the next tier below them, and like him or not, he does have the intangibles to be as good as them. It's hard to say I know, but Phaneuf in Nashville's system could make him a regular Norris candidate. Just saying that is a guy who's vacant spot is not easily filled, nor quickly filled. Just like Sundin's (I am not saying Phaneuf is as good as Sundin).
And the Sundin reference was to show what our team is like with a #1 C, rather than a #1 D. Trading Phaneuf for a center is idiotic at best. I would much rather trust Burke in acquiring a center with an abundance of assets than moving a key piece. |

The Toronto Maple Leaf organization is in a much better situation regarding NHL/AHL rosters than the Winnipeg Jet organization. Yeah, I said it. |

Canada's sucks.
Sorry, but there you have it.
And for all the things I hate Mulroney for, inserting "God" into our anthem is at the top of the list.
Time to go back to the Maple Leaf Forever - and I don't even care if we use the new, sanitized version. If it was good enough for Anne Murray at the last Leafs game at the Gardens, it's good enough for me.
Oh, by the way, I was at that game. Just thought I'd throw that in there, to make you losers even more jealous of me than you already are. |
