that's why instead of the offersheet route (but being used as a 'treath') Leafs would be looking to trade for Weber's rights..
Kulemin + Rielly + Kadri + Ashton for Weber - MaximusAurelius
I would only do that if Weber was also an elite goaltender. |

Perhaps, but can I ask why you feel that way? Dressing room? Have no idea what goes on in there; maybe 24/7 will shed some light on that. Lots of jokes about controlling the iPod, but other than that, no idea.
Media? Yup, awkward pauses. Certainly needs help there.
Results? Team has sucked since he's been there; team also sucked before he was there. Not sure how much can be blamed on him. - gravyface
Just don't see him sticking up for some of his teammates....... trying to rally the players on the ice. Do something, big hit or something to lift the team when its down.... etc etc
All that, and he doesn't come across very well in interviews with the media. To me the captain should be able to at least give the impression that he is leading the team out on the ice. Protect the players in the media when the media is on the attack. |

Oh, poo - that was two years ago.
I'm having a hell of a morning.
Last year: 17-17-4-4, .902, 2.92 - Atomic Wedgie
No problem, it just felt like those stats most of the time, haha. |

I think it's awesome Burke is paying Armstrong and Tucker (yes Tucker) 1M each not to play this year. - KABLOOEY
meh, better than paying Stajan $3.5M to play incredibly poorly |

Bizarre theory I've just come up with, but I'm putting it out there, so stay with me:
Weber would probably be reluctant to sign an offer sheet.
If he truly wants out of Nashville (and I have no idea if this is true or not, I'm just playing along with the internet chatter), then signing an offer sheet is a dangerous proposition. I'm assuming any offer sheet would be a long term deal, and Nashville would simply match it, "condemning" him to playing in Nashville for a long time. - Atomic Wedgie
Good call.
Especially now that Suter's gone, gotta think he's going to want to look at his options. However, I doubt that next year's UFA is going to be a mad cash grab; would think that term/cap/something is going to go down that make Parise/Suter deals impossible. |

if weber wants the 'suter deal', he needs to sign now before the CBA changes the rules.
either sign a 10-12 year deal in nashville, or accept a trade somewhere he is willing to sign a 10-12 year deal |

Thing is, we don't know how well he's doing in the eyes' of the team: staying on the ice and controlling the play vs. trying to make a big hit? Debatable outcome, coach (at least Wilson) would always favour him not getting into fights, running around, etc. and the Captain reports to the coach.
As for media delivery, I agree, and if he put some work into that it would do a lot to disuade the masses. Having said that, Sundin used to take a lot of heat for not showing "emotion" in interviews. Now looking back at his career, away from the heat of the moment, I think it's universally agreed upon that Sundin was a great Captain for our team and one of the all-time Leaf greats. |

he's gonna get an assload of money no matter what - only difference it makes is the cap hit and term. Hell he'll probably get way more money in the long term with two 5 year deals than one 10-12 yr cause theoretically in another 5-6 yrs the cap etc will be even higher just based off of inflation alone.

Burke is an idiot I look at the Leafs team and you have to ask yourself would they have been better off with Doug Armstrong as gmt ?
It's almost like players do not want to play in Toronto anymore.
Say what you want about other eras but even when Quinn was gm the Leafs had elite talent |
