I know Randy said McC is pencilled in at 3C, but I see him more as 4C with major PK time as well....either Bozak or Connolly at 3C....unless Connolly is traded and Bozak is 1C again....

Carlyle said that he's going to give JVR a long look at center..... presumably #1 center. I don't think Bozak is a fit at #3. Something has to give.

I think we had better temper our expectations for JVR at center: I'm all for experimenting but I wouldn't be surprised if Bozak takes over centering the top line; he's our best option right now.

JVR has 10 career NHL faceoffs to his name and hasn't played center at the pro level (I don't even think he played at the college level).

His Corsi is pretty decent and he did face tough competition (thanks to playing with Giroux, Jagr, Richards, etc.), but he still needs work defensively at the wing let alone center, so throwing him to the lions in the #1 hole doesn't seem like a great move to me. Who knows though, kid could be a natural at center (Sundin was drafted as a winger too).

Dubinsky was playing C until last year when he was moved to wing - consequently he had his worst season so far.. He would be looking to play C again, probably not happening at NYR with Tortorella, until NYR deals 1/2 other Centers..

Dubinsky is very decent on face-offs, physical presence, always playing with heart.. Would be a good fit on a line with Kessel (not sure if they played together on team USA) and Lupul.

Makes you wonder how long before McClement is demoted....

Definitely. Only question is who is even available? People throw around names like Stastny and Getzlaf and Thornton/Marleau but what if they aren't available? Teams aren't lining up to trade any centres let alone guys who could play on the first line. Unless it's a situation like J. Staal where he's a pending free agent and you're pretty sure (hell, he could have told them outright) that he isn't going to sign there and your hand is forced or if you have a bad Cap situation and your hand is forced.

My bet is we make an "upgrade" at centre but it's not a star player. I know we won't get Ribeiro because he just got traded but I think it'll be a guy more of that range than a guy like Getzlaf. That's still an improvement, definitely, but it's not like a massive overhaul.

He doesn't actually have to be fitted.

I was down at the ACC this morning, and they are making tons of Getzlaf jerseys for the shop - in all sizes.

So he can just take whatever one he wants.
