few thoughts

morgan rielly- apparently the coaches at the development camp are really high on him right now. comparing how he came to the camp kind of like how gardiner did last season and how he looks like a man on a mission. i'm sure many leaf fans would love for him to play next year, but i still think he has a year or 2 of junior to allow him to further develop. sure, theres guys who can make the jump right away (doughty, fowler to an extent) but i'd rather go the gardiner/pieterangelo route. let the kid develop in the minors. let him play in the U-20's gaining even more experience and then bring him into the show. he does look like he has a good head on his shoulders so i don't think sending him to the minors will faze him. i wouldn't be surprised if they keep him all through training camp though if there is one

greg mckegg- again, they are high on him and most likely will be playing in the marlies which is a good sign. coaches said he needs to work on his explosiveness in his skating and mckegg even said he is going to work on that all summer if its with his trainer or with barb underhill who is the leafs power skating coach. mckegg is my dark horse prospect cause i think he could turn out to be a real solid NHLer

tyler biggs- he really seems like he is willing to do whatever he has to in order to become a pro one day. shows that he can fight, and even scored a goal during the camp. i like his attitude that he really wants to stay in the toronto area so that he can train with the toronto staff, be it barb underhill or whomever else to really improve his game. i don't think he will start the season with the marlies but playing for oshawa with a guy like jenner or laughton centering him will be helpful. i hope he gets traded to london or kitchener cause they just crank out good NHLers all the time

stuart percy- i didnt even know he was participating in the camp this year cause they havent even had one interview with him. read he was probably the best player defensively out there, with rielly being second. i've personally seen percy play since i am from mississauga and though he doesn't play a fancy game and unless you watch him you don't notice him (i watched him all game long since i'm a huge leaf fan, my buddy didnt even notice he played half the time) and he just does all the little things right. good skaters, makes great first passes, doesn't panic with the puck, knows when to shoot and when to dump it down low. if biggs goes to the ohl, i will def be going to see that game between the two of them because apparently they have become really good friends. he will still be 19 by the time the U-20 comes around so hopefully him and rielly both make the team

Biggs can play. Throws the body hard and can fight. But he has top 6 potential because his hands aren't bad. He scored in the shootout too. Looks like he'll be a fan favourite a few years down the road, good with the media too.

i bet lots of teams are hoping for a buyout window, well, big market teams, and i guess little market cause then they can sign those guys at a more reasonable price
- matt1337

I hope so...just make it a 100% buyout...players lose nothing, team get cap space, both benefit

they gave him all the chances in the world, can't buy him out, cap hit is ridiculous and the Habs have the money to pay him to do nothing. If the new CBA has a buyout window with no cap hit, he is gone, if not, Hamilton it is.

Komi for us would be gone.... either him or Connolly, but suprisingly i thin Connolly has a better chance to be dealt because he only has 1 year left

i know what you mean. i dont like putting expectations on players (which is hard since every leaf fan does it). i can see him being solid in the nhl though. he has the style of the old school leafs. so does ross and ashton to an extent. those are the players leaf fans love to watch. guys who throw hits, score the dirty goals and fight. even broll can do the crash and bang but isn't as successful of a goal scorer as the other 3

Best thing for all four of them is to stay far, far away from the Leafs in the next year or two. The last thing the Leafs right now is to rush any of those four guys into the spotlight before they are completely ready to make the jump. They will all benefit from time spent in the WHL, OHL and AHL.

exactly. rielly should be back in moose jaw. stuart should be back in mississauga. biggs should go to oshawa and biggs should go to marlies. right not they shouldn't play for the leafs cause this isn't a winning environment right now. best for them to continue to develop

There are very few players who can make the jump to the NHL right away and even those players that do, half of them have setbacks early on for one reason or another. Rielly missed most of the season last year and Percy missed half of last season with injuries. For them to get a full season, as well as a good shot with Team Canada, would be great. Biggs is going to play more hockey this year than he has ever played in his career while McKegg takes his first step into professional hockey with the Marlies. These all necessary steps for the proper development of our players.
