When a player has an albatross contract, is underperforming, getting pushed down the depth chart, what do you think happens to his trade value? For example, Luongo, Lecavalier, Stastny, Bouwmeester, etc.

He is being played behind Duchene, and Oreilly, not performing as good as them. They provide better bang for the buck currently for the Avs.

Who did the Pens acquire to replace Staal on the 3rd line, mind you he's only 23, so the price was obviously higher, but guess what, no other then a 3rd line centerman on top of the pick.

the point was that Burke had Schenn marked 'untradeble' ('future captain material') before, and now traded him away.. The same thing can happen to Phaneuf
