I'm not saying that Dudley is the reason Montreal picked Gally, all I'm saying is that it was completely unnecessary for the Leafs to open themselves up like that. What stings even more is that every analyst has said that Montreal had the strongest of any team and Dudley was a part of that.

The bottom line is that the Leafs should have protected their best interests first.

they did - Dudley wasn't allowed to partake in the draft, as per terms of the agreement.

must be nice playing beside someone who would have won the calder if it wasnt for his injury, Eberle IMO will be better than kessel, just stating that at 22 kessel had no players of quality worth playing with, eberle had 2 1st overalls

Eberle played with 1st overall picks but they are still 18 year old players. Or injured. Eberle deserves a lot of credit for what he's been able to accomplish.

Even if Connolly is completely healthy and even if his talent is at a high enough level that he can play with Lupul and Kessel, his faceoff abilities are horrible. Between that and his inconsistent play, he's either gone or on the wings.

As was already said, pretty sure he wasn't allowed to participate in the draft, and even if he did, no GM is going to ignore the scouts that have been working on the draft all year for a guy he just brought in.
