I hate seeing these kind of line-ups knowing that it'll never happen
- peddy-93

I like how Kane is on the 2nd line.

He's a LW.
- ThePresident

so... he and Kovulchuk both played LW at the same time? cause they played together quite a bit...

in which case my next answer is Kovalchuk, cause it's one or the other..then we have, Bobby Ryan, Corey Perry, Ovechkin

Questionable, Perry played with some skilled players in Ryan and Getzlaf... Had one outstanding year, and he's 27.

Giroux is a center now, Iginla overall is better but is passing his prime, and I'd pick Selanne all day over Kessel.. like 10 years ago, not now

He's also a 2 way forward who hits and can fight.

I was confused more than anything, after skipping out on Cowan, I didn't think Burke would go for a guy who missed that much time, given what forwards, and tougher d-men were available.

But if you think a guy is the BPA, you take him. No questions asked.

What's with the hate for Bozak?? He's a very decent C, especially for your third line.. Frattin-Bozak-Kulemin would be a great third line for the Leafs..

Instead of Komarov, I could see a 4th line of McClement - Steckel - Brown as well, 2 faceoff guys on your fourth line.. McClement can play a bit of wing..

Yup, i was just confused because Burke said it might have been the first time he would pick a positional need over BPA if the talent levels were close. IMO at #5 Rielly was the player with the highest upside and least risk (i dont consider his knee a risk). And what Rielly showed in the combine and also rehabbing his knee, Burke and Morrison fell in love, even though we already have enough PMD on our team.

They're both considered LW, don't care what they play for one season. Bobby Ryan is not better, drafted higher yes, but better? No. Corey Perry questionable, like I said, he played with some pretty skilled players, is 27, and had pretty much one outstanding season. Ovechkin is a LW, the best left winger. Kessel is 24, I'd say he is the best up and coming young right winger in the game. Think of who he plays with, think of his age, think of his skillset.

this is the 1st season Kessel has ever had more points than him, and Perry still had 37G...

oh, and that one outstanding season he was the (frank)ing Hart trophy...

he's better. quite a bit actually.

I'd call a 70+ point powerforward pretty outstanding.

McClement wont be on the wing.

if you listened to Carlyles/Burkes interview, they've stated that he's a good defensive shutdown center and is great on faceoffs.

Carlyle is going to use him like he used Pahlsson in Anaheim.

ya I was just trying to bait you into saying Kessel is better than Ovie with that one. Cause that conversation happened a couple days ago actually. Was embarassing.

Ryan is a better 2 way player than Kessel, and he's more complete offensively.

This isn't a poop on Kessel debate - but if Burke could trade Kessel for EITHER Ryan or Perry straight up, he'd due it in a flash, so would every other GM in the league, so would 99% of people who've ever heard of hockey.
