and the other side, how (frank)ing much is it going to cost. honestly, if they do get a center, and he puts up 40 or close both year, he's gonna want $7M, and he'd absolutely get it if he went to market
EDIT: I doubt Burkie lets him go past the deadline in final year unsigned. If he hasn't locked him up he'll have to trade him (you know, if Burkie's still here - if Burke's gone, then Kessel will already have been traded I'd imagine).

That's what had me thinking of his age. If Parise got 7.5 at 27 years old, with basically the same stat line, what will Kessel receive, mind you he's only 24 and can put together 2 more better seasons.

He'll have to get WAAAAAAAAY better defensively before he can start hoping for Parise money. But then again...some idiot GM will always overpay to get a guaranteed 70 goals from him.

I'm not worried about the money. Why would he want to play here if the team hasn't made any steps forward? He'll be poop on in the media daily. Just not a very player friendly place to play when the team is in complete shambles.

Unless Reimer/Scrivens stand on their head...I really don't see how next season will be any different than the last.
But then again, Burke claims that the current roster will not at all look the same come puck drop of opening day.
