I can tell you though that it's not 'typical italian' - on Italian TV they actually make fun of the guy pretending he's an expert on these dishes..

Did you ever see the show The Restaurant, with Rocco DiSpirito? Basically the exact same idea.

Here's the thing about Cake Boss.

Half the shows are about him surprising some family member with a cake.

Like WTF Dude?

Can you imagine EVERY family event someone is going "Gee Buddy, thanks, a cake, WOW! What a great surprise. I never would have guessed. I hope my piece doesn't have some random bit of plastic tube in it this time."
