Tedenby is probably going to get called up and they like Zharkov as well. They're really only missing one F to finish a decent line-up, and Harrold can play forward as he did the game Kovalchuk returned.

The best teams in the league have + players even if they have a good powerplay.

I said at the start of the playoffs that if NJ goes far, it'll be because of their forward depth... go check their +/-.

Minor league +/- isn't NHL +/-, also you need to take into account the quality of players that player faces (if they're first liners and they have a + stat, it means they're REALLY good). If I have a team full of + players, I'm going to win, even if it's 2-1 most games. It's an extremely useful stat if you know what to do with it.

We should go after Semin, I think we have a realistic shot at getting him. Also It'd be cool to make an offer for Ryan, maybe one that includes a defenseman and Clarkson while his value is high and before he becomes a UFA next summer.

I just hope Devils fans aren't insulted by the move he does eventually make. He has pieces on defense to move and Mueller is an affordable "tryout" free agent as well. Now that Toronto's moved Schenn and Aulie, he might consider Clarke McArthur (don't laugh, he has a good locker room presence) for one of those 3-4 d-man. You might even try another depth move and go for another top 9 forward just to make sure their depth is intact in case of injury.

Guys like Ryan, Kane, etc, are nearly unattainable right now as the Devils don't really have the starpower prospect to acquire them. They have "okay" goaltenders, potential defense, and are shallow up front. They can't go moving Henrique or Zajac or they'll probably be first and outs even if they do make the playoffs in the coming years because they need those centermen. This also might be Josefson's breakout season; he's a presence every time he has the puck and I wonder what he'd be like with skilled players at his wings.

A full season with Zidlicky in a more familiar role with the team and Larsson as a more developed player might also open up those offensive numbers for the Devils forwards.

I would not mind signing Semin at all. He won't replace Parise, but he could at least make it an easier transition.
