Too much money but that is likely what he will earn next year. Not sure if it will be here or in the KHL though.

I am definitely not in favour of adding Semin (no code) but the prospect of spreading out the offence (all code) and actually have two lines capable of scoring appeals to me. Pretty sure he's not looking for a one or two year deal though.

I think he probably is looking for a longer deal but nobody will pay him 7 million for it. That's why I say 1 year 7 mil. I am not saying it's perfect but it beats most of the other options out there at the risk of only money.

Well, our prospects have been better in recent years i.e. Pacioretty, Gorges, Subban, Price. There are some good young pieces in place and there is definitely hope for the future, even though we were a bubble playoff team year after year. Lots of work to be done for sure but I don't see the immediate and long term future of the team as being overly bleak.

*refrains from using the "anything can happen in the playoffs" mantra*

If Gomez gets buried in the minors, give Semin that cap hit for one or 2 years. It honestly can't be worse.

The pickings are pretty slim but who really knows (except for Ek) who is really available/movable.

The problems we've had in the past is trading young players and picks for older players. Then those players either walk for nothing or don't perform.
