Is renegotiating an existing contract against the rules? For example could the Flyers and Schenn just scrap the bonuses and agree to a $1.85 million or so AAV contract straight up? Schenn gets more money and Flyers get cap certainty up front.

How in the world does that give Schenn more money?

Nashville will not let him get to the market. They can't afford to do it. Whether its this summer or the trade deadline. I dont think Weber will string them along letting them think they have a chance.
- Just5

I don't think Weber's agent will let him sign right away with a team that trades for him. I really don't.

He won't do a sign and trade with Nashville. They won't fork over half the signing bonus other teams would.

I really see no way he gets signed before free agency.

I don't know the exact numbers, but to get the one bonus about $1.4 million, he has to play 25 minutes of all 82 games. Not happening.

I just think any team that trades for him would be prepared to give him near the highest contract the leagues ever seen. At least for defenseman. Ovechkin-like.

They'll start him with the phantoms the first game. Problem solved

I see it more as a Chara contract.

Yes. No contract can be renegotiated after being signed. That's why Wade Redden is Hartford's favorite millionaire athlete

Then he and Nashville would have to get together and agree on what team has the pieces and the cash. Only way I could possibly see it happening.

For a 30 goal scorer under 25?
- puckhead17

Don't even bother arguing. People in here seem to think Jake (who I like) is the second coming of Christ. They also love to whine about our defense, but are unwilling to trade Gus. Lastly, they killed Homer for Laughton, who was a stretch at his draft position and is THREE years away, but we can't trade him for a proven 25 year old 30 goal scorer.

People on here are expecting that Bobby Ryan will be traded for MAB and a 1st (which is actually what I don't want to trade based on what I've heard about next years draft) all because he publicly asked to be moved. News flash: Anaheim will get what they want for him or they won't move him and if he doesn't want to play than he doesn't get paid. You have to give up a lot to get a perennial 30 goal scorer who is 5 years from 30 despite what all the HockeyyInsiderrs in here think.

Flyers then get the $$$ under the cap after the season starts which would help at the deadline. However, Already having the $4.9 for Pronger I thought they could use and extra 500K-1M at the start?

I don't believe the Flyers have enough to get Ryan based on not trading B. Schenn or Couturier and no 1st rd picks.

And MJL, I like to think everyone is different. Weber has never said he doesn't want to play in the East for one.

- hereticpride

It wasn't about the particulars of what a player wants. But what you said here proves my point. Just because a player goes to Free Agency, doesn't mean he'll sign with you. Other teams can compete for the players. But if he becomes available in a trade, I have to make it. And once obtained, they won't have to compete with other teams. And I'll be confident that if Weber wants a team to spend to try and win, he'll re-sign with the Flyers.

Pronger will stay on the cap until the Flyers have less than $4.91mm in cap space available. No need to put a guy on LTIR unless you need to use that cap space.

Semin may be a head case at least that's what's being tossed around out there, Howeveer he always seems to have a good +/- rating. Would he be worth a 3 year deal at the right price?

It doesn't mean he'll sign with you yes but I believe a Flyers team with all it's top picks and prospects would be more appealing to a player than one that sells the farm doing so in the process. If he hits free agency, which he most likely will what team has a better core and more money to spend? As far as I know he has no issue with playing in the east or a want to play with Parise. I wait it out and take my chances.

Me neither. But my bet is if Ryan is a Flyer, I am allowed to post on HB. If he is not, I won't post.

For the person taking my bet, they could post until Ryan is a Flyer. Of course, one must show honor in upholding the bet.

In effect, it could force a lifetime ban on me (i.e. Ryan is never a Flyer). Several posters, including MJL, may find this great news.

- Daman

Not interested in that bet. Nor would I find it great news if you weren't around. I'm not sure why you say some of the things you say, but to each their own.
