History. Everyone is assuming that no offers for Semin is due to perceived character issues. Possibly a good assumption, who knows.

So if he's not getting good offers now, and he bombs with whatever team signs him, it's likely that no one will rush to trade for him.

And where do all miserable Russian players who feel under-appreciated, under paid, or un-loved go...

To the K.

Radulov, Zherdev, etc etc.

No way the flyers should be icing a lineup with Briere and Semin. Semin will flop here it woul be an awful move

Last 4 years Suter v. Weber (I'm bored at work)

Weber - 74 goals 119 assists - 193 points +29 = 319 games out of 328

Suter - 22 goals 145 assists - 167 points +23 = 313 games out of 328

Point is -- if Suter is getting 7.5.......what do you think Weber is going to get?

**numbers were actually closer than I thought.

Not that I dont agree but sometimes a change of environment is needed. It's a risk no doubt but he could put up some nice numbers next to Giroux. Flyers should explore other options first though.

Just because a handful of players did one thing doesn't mean every Russian player will. If that was the case why didn't he do it already.

Put it this way. The KHL is a place for players who are basically out of NHL options for whatever reason. End of their career. Unfulfilled potential. Perceived bad egg.

I personally don't think Semin is in the same category with Zherdev, Kostitsyn, Radulov etc., which is why I'd give him a chance.

BUT...IF that perception of him is there among front office types, then he likely has one final chance to prove them wrong.

He'll take some heat for that in the locker room. Three is a charm though!

I'm still not seeing how he would up and leave in the middle of a multi-year/million dollar contract.

I wouldn't mind it if the deal was short term and the Flyers explored all options but couldn't agree with others.

Personally, I kinda like this...

Semin - G - Schenn
Hartsy - Briere - Vorachek
Simmonds - Couturier - Read
Rusty - Talbot - Wellwood/Rinaldo

Radulov did.

I think the money is generally there in the K for top players. So if their ice time is cut, players riding them, etc., and their generally miserable, the Khl becomes an option.

Maybe I'm wrong on it, who knows.

But to me most of the trade options that are feasible, meaning other team might do, really seem to weaken us both short and long term.

I just don't believe we're getting Ryan or Nash for a package of Read, Gus, MAB and a first. It will be at least 2 major roster players and 1 to 2 1st round picks.

They better just get off their @ss and get it done. If they lose him then we're heading into disasterville.

Again just because a handful of guys with the same ethnicity did something doesn't mean they all will.

Homer said they tried to re-sign him but he decided to go elsewhere. I'm guessing the 6 years was the hold up? Not really sure though.

So would trading Couturier / Vorachek, Read, Coburn or Mesz / Cousins or Laughton / and a 1st for Ryan or Nash.

Personally, I think they weaken the team even doing Vorachek, Mes or Read and a pick for Ryan. At that point either you're a two line team or have a worse D than we had 2 years ago, when everyone said we had to upgrade the D.

Id hate to see a guy we traded one of our former franchise players for, up and leave after two years to go on and be successful somewhere else.

Right now I'm not very happy with the offseason. Seems like random patchwork so far other than the JVR trade. I'm willing to be patient, but so far I'm underwhelmed.

Guess which one of them has a future with the Flyers?

That's right, its Carle. They will re acquire him from Tampa again!
