My money is on Briere, although I won't be one of the raggers.

Running out of scapegoats. We're close to the perfect team now.

probably not

Gagne struggled hoisting it up, but he did it.

Get Kyle Wellwood on board and he and Alex can lift it together.

The other two metrics, he's significantly better.

GF on ice per 60:

Ryan: 2.63
Semin: 3.02

Anything else?

That is exactly what we need ...a lazy soft russian who can't play defense ...get it done Homer

The new whipping boy will be 27 year old defenseman Luke Schenn.

The only problem with this is that he is only 22. People will forget or ignore that fact numerous times every time he turns over a puck (which he did more often than the turnover machine who just went to Tampa) or doesn't run a guy through the boards 20 times a game.

It will make the Carle bashing look like a Sunday stroll down Kelly Drive.

- MBFlyerfan

Agreed. I think he gets a one season free pass due to his age as you mentioned.

All homer has left to do this off season is poop the bed with Voracek forcing either a sat-out season or a horrible trade.

GF for Ryan:

2009- 3.97
2010- 3.37
2011- 3.53

Impressive, although Semin has pretty superb o-numbers himself.

At that point, our off-season would consist of:

Losing: JVR, Jagr, Read, Carle, Gus
Gaining: Ryan, Schenn

That still leaves us down 2 forwards and down 1 defenseman. Idiots or not, the team would not necessarily be better after that move. Look at the combined salary of Read+Gus as opposed to Ryan, and we're still down 3 players with less cap space to work with. Ryan would be great to have, but don't underestimate the cap hit of Read and the potential he still has to show, only playing 1 year in the NHL.

I'm truly sorry, but I can't even remotely understand your point. It is so far away from what my opinion of common sense would be that I refuse to pursue this conversation.

I am starting to think with Bourdon being waiver eligible, they have to keep 8 defenseman, and Shelley may be done.

A better question is whether to believe these reports that Semin is a locker room "cancer". What do you guys think of that?

Pierre and other analysts rip on him constantly, but is that just N.A. bias?

James Mirtle's list of remaining free agents. Obviously Carle is since gone.

These are listed in a Top N format, meaning 1 is the best? If so, how is Kubina considered the 10th best player out there?

Slim pickings to say the least, if the Flyers don't land Doan, any significant upgrade will have to be made via trade.

Edit: Montoya sign with Winnipeg for 600K. I would have much rather the Flyers signed the Big Cubano for 600K, than recycle Leighton for 900K

I'll say it differently. We would be idiots not to give up Read, Gus and a 1st for Ryan.
- Daman

They wouldn't take that. If read is the main piece of course he can be dealt. I'm not throwing him in with a Mez or voracek in any deal for ryan
