I think the goal is gonna be to win the division and return to the playoffs this year.. but next years UFA pool and contracts coming off the books in addition to all of the talent that is coming up the pipeline is gonna be the start...

Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia, Catenacci, Sundher, Pysyk, McNabb, Foligno, Ennis, Hodgson..

Thats 10 roster guys that would all be on cheap entry level contracts or first RFA contract...

that frees up a lot of space to do other pieces. Next year's draft and UFA pool is the deepest in YEARS!

Consider all the crazy defensive signings lately...
Plus Sekera's play in the worlds has certainly caught the attention of some GMs...
AND at 2.8mil for the next 3 seasons Sekera is one heck of a bargain

Not sure Sundher & Catenacci end up making significant contributions for the Sabres
Prob 50/50 they even make the team at some point
If Catenacci has a good year in the AHL I wouldn't be surprised to see him used as trade bait
