6.6 mill, good luck with that and no thanks. - SABRES 89
Who cares, the sabres have the room to make the move, would you rather have the sabres be 7 million under the cap or on the cap, it doesn't matter to you it's only helping pegulas wallet if you're under the cap, the sabres only need to sign one more player and they have 10 million dollars in cap room so it doesn't matter |

we need his cap hit to just be at the floor, so its not a bad thing we have that. And when his cap comes off the books Duchene is ready for a new one, which he signed at bargain price for the next 2 years. Transfer of funds by that time. Pretty good cap management by our standards - DDM-Coga
100% agree, that contract works great for the Avs just not for the Sabres. |

In time my friend, I'm not a Darcy supporter but he will do something and it will be for a player that nobody expects. |

Hodgson and grigorenko haven't proven anything yet so you can't say theyre good, hodgson actually played pretty bad with buffalo last year and money is no problem for the sabres anyway - MattDuchene9
It took him time to adjust after the first trade of his career, nah that can't be it surely you are right and he is a complete bust, maybe we should send him off for a 7th rounder? First ten games, 0 pts, last ten games 8 points. He was a top 10 pick. And I'm talking about cap hit not actual dollars. |

This whole convo was about Stastny and our all world blogger thinking Sekera is worth GOLD, so if I was wrong my mistake. The point was Garth thinks Sekera + is worth Stastny. - SABRES 89
Its just tiresome that us Avs Fans have read multiple trade scenarios for stastny and its always involving another teams left over D-Men (Leafs), who do they think we are, the kids on the short bus? |

One of the stupidest blogs I have ever witnessed. I'm sorry but having a career high of 29 points is not exactly a nice body of work. Carle has had 35/40/38 point seasons over the last three years, very good numbers. You'd be lucky if Sekera fetched a 2nd round pick. |

I was just pointing out to your blogger that no mediocre Dmen are required in Denver. We have plenty.
If he wants to bring us up in a trade of some sort involve a winger. Whether its Stastny or whomever. |

Gaustad had a career high of 12 goals and he got us a 1st rounder.... |

Sekera is far from a left over D man, he's not Paul Coffey but he's no bum either. |

I still don't want Stastny. |

Methinks Semin goes to NJ and slots in opposite Kovy. - nfph
Im pretty positive they play the same side. Both are LW shooters.
If he did go to Jesery, I'd think he'd play 2nd line LW |

I put him in the same boat as O'Brien, Wilson, Zanon and O'Bryne for us, valuable, but not game breakers. We have enough of that type on our roster. |

Nobody wants Sekera... period. End of story.
In the spirit of ridiculous multi-year contracts, let's call Nash, offer him a 23 yr deal with part ownership. Done and done... - edwinsagain
sekera is pretty damned good. i'd take him on my team if the need was there.

There will be multiple opportunities to trade him with fans on this thread this season. I'd guess by December a 7th will get it done, whether he's playing well or not. |

Just because he's a top ten pick doesn't make him good, I keep repeating that the sabres are 10 mil under the cap with one player left to sign, money is no issue, I wouldn't be surprised at all if hodgson wasa bust considering the fact the sabres don't ever development many stars themselves at least since lindy took over |

I have entertained thoughts at trading him just to see how other teams value Stastny and what we could get for him, but end of the day I dont want to see him go and the vast majority of Avs Fans dont want to see him leave either.
Always fun to see what kind of fair and interesting trades you can get when its not some yahoo just trading junk in one sided trades. |

I agree. There is TONS of speculation of Stastny moving. Especially in Buffalo. Buffalo needs a true #1 center in the short-term, but will have a plethora of centers in a couple years. There are only so many guys that applies to, but for some reason Stastny comes up over and over.
The Carle versus Sekera comparison has no merit. Not only has Carle out produced Sekera by a wide margin but he's also been healthy the last 3 years. However, we can all agree Carle was overpaid. Especially since all the players on Philly have their stats inflated since they score so many goals. |

The sabres don't develop many stars because they haven't had a top 5 pick in almost ten years, not because of lindy ruff. And yes just because he is top 10 pick it doesn't mean Hodgson will work out, but it makes it more likely and it is still very early in his career. And That cap number will change in the new CBA and the Sabres have a lot of rookies who in the next few years will require some hefty raises. My point is I don't want to dedicate that much cap space to one player unless a) he is playing really well or b) I can get him cheap. |
