I don't like trading our good talent to Philly for a small 34 year old center who makes 6.5M

I just think there are better options...

- JVince11

ok, who would be a better center to play with pommer and leino

you invest that money in leino and he has to produce

I am just saying I think there are better options than Briere...

I could care less about Leino at this point.. put him in Rochester. We should just give him the Kotalik treatment and have him play in Europe some where.

Ek seems to think that Toronto will be announcing a trade sometime this morning and NOT Luongo..

And textingsources came on to say that we will be announcing a "huge" trade today at noon. BOOK IT!

PAVELSKI is who I think we should target.. Couture is ready to step up in SJ and be their 2C and is getting stuck on 3C minutes...Couture was 2nd on that team in total points last year

This city would blow up if we got Briere back. Leino isn't going down to Rochester so forget that. It would be awesome and that line would produce.

Not very good on my end... I got a call on Tuesday that my daughter bite her tongue really bad at daycare (she is 3 years old).. and that they couldn't stop the bleeding.. well i just imagine its a cut or nick off the corner...

nope a few hours later and we are at the hospital and she has to have surgery in order to close the wound.. it was within 1.5 cms of having been severed. That DC dropped the ball horribly... I am livid with them and will be seeking legal advice.

HOW WAS YOURS!

You don't want a small forward like Briere but you want Pavelski

I agree.... and Briere has 3 more years on his contract...

What do we do in that 3 years with the progression of Hodgson, Ennis, Ott, Grigorenko, and Girgensons? I would be willing to bet Ennis would have to be traded for Briere??

young, cheap, good 2 way player, more hits, more takeaways, less giveaways, great playoff experience

he is a decent choice... not my best choice but I like him better than Briere who no one has even heard could be getting shopped.

since they are pretty much the same player you are just trading to move up in the evolution of the player

Garth may be a tool but I think many of you are missing the bigger point.

If guys like Carle are getting huge coin then the trade value of reasonably-priced defensemen goes up. Sekera may or may not be as good as Carle. Is Carle 2.5 mill better than Sekera? No way.

Lots of teams still need quality D and we've got a couple that have a reasonable salary. They won't get us Ryan or Nash but they are worth something.

Garth is on drugs.

All the numbers show that Carle is better.....WTF lol

- koarik91

Not as straight forward as it seems. Sekera actually has better rankings in his quality of competition and his relative corsi. Sekera is 30th in relative corsi amongst all NHL d men who played in at least 50 games, Carle is 57th. Sekera is 43rd in quality of competition, Carle is 73rd.

Basically Sekera is playing harder minutes than Carle, yet is having more success as far as flow of play is concerned.

In my opinion, Sekera is the better cap value, Carle will turn out to be an overpayment.

Are advanced stats the end all be all? Nope, but they do provide an opportunity to look at players in a different light.
