so how is it that the Isles are still the joke of the league with dp's contract yet crosby has 12 years and now suter and parise have 13? Not to mention Luongo, Carter and a host of others.
Wang gets laughed at a ton but he's the first to come up with the long term deal and now it's a heavily used tool.
I hope so much that the cap goes down as a result of the cba negotiations and the 5 teams at the top of the league in salary all have to scramble to unload some dollars.
*** and don't tell me crosby is worth the 12 year deal because of who he is, that guy is done for his career if someone rings his doorbell let alone hits him on the ice. - Isles_since_6

I'd give up the farm for him...but I don't think that would be enough... - kear20
the isles have have pieces but i don't thiink the right pieces if the ducks want a second line center who can play now. we don't have that. i would offer Bailey Nino and our first for ryan. I'm not going any farther and trading 5 pieces for him. |

As they say in baseball, the players you mentioned are prospects...that's all they are. It doesn't mean they are all going to make the NHL and be stars. Look at Nino, he has bust written all over him. How can you play 5 minutes a night be a -27...that is pretty hard to do. I bet Nelson and Kabonov will have a better year at Bridgeport and will pass him on the depth chart. I think it will be hard to get Ryan now anyway...too many other teams are in the mix. The way the team looks right now, they are looking a top 5 draft pick. - kear20
the kid is 19 and will be good in bport..lets not write off 19 year olds..also Nelson did NOTHING in his 6 games in bport so lets not crown him yet.. |

Glad it's not the Islanders' money. Just because someone IS a UFA doesn't mean they are worth a fortune. - dcb1
Yeah, that would be terrible. I don't want Wang spending money on any these crappy players like Carle. Our defense is fine as is. |

This is what the kool aide drinkers don't understand. Them signing Carkner and Boyes is not going to keep the knowledgable fans happy. The people that believe in this BS will continue too. That's just the way it is. - Cptmjl
i'm a knowledgable fan and i like those signings..however i don't think they are a playoff team yet..team still needs a second line center and a top 4 dman |

Matt Carle is not a great defensman...ask flyers fans they aren't missing him...would he be an upgrade sure..but he was a turnover machine....since we all know that ufa's aren't coming here and we aren't signing them then they have to find a brain campbell type contract to trade for |

It's not that I don't like the signings but there is much more that needs to be done and not much left to do it with. Last year at this point is when the problems started. The Rolstons, Mottaus, Pandalfo. When there is nothing left but shat you're forced to eat it. |

The guy had 38 points, played all 82 games, and was a plus 4. I don't need to talk to any Flyers fans. Of course they are going to bash him on his way out the door. That's what hockey fans do. I'm not saying he was the missing link for this team but they have to sign some decent players here. The well is running dry. |

exactly we can't rush to judgment on these players...as i was watching Nelson..in my head I kept saying "he was a first round pick" but at the same time my brain kept saying he's kid wait till he gets a full season. i think kabanov, nelson and nino may be a hell of line in bport next season. i totally get your frustration but i can't get on the kids. the guys we have to get on and hold to the fire are KO Bailey and Grabner..they have to progress and be consistent and provide secondary scoring. |

I'm not getting on the kids. I just can't stand when these kids are called elite prospects when they just aren't. I agree with you. Did Nelson look that out of place? |

no he actually didn't he was fast and very physical..he just didn't create many chances. but i get that its tough to leave college play 2 ahl games and then jump into playoff games. the thing is if nino stayed in juniors last year and scored 50 goals he would still be an elite prospect..bottom line is he wasn't ready but wanger needed his cap hit and ruined his year..like i said let him go to bport rack up a ton of points and earn his roster spot on the isles |

You are quite possibly the biggest douche that has ever been on this site. I did not say it was a great contract you half wit. What I said was that we need to start signing some players because at this point our defense is laughable. You are an absolute tool box. Stick to Lamarelllo, Brooks, and Dolan and front loaded contracts. So many people on here seem intrigued by your posts. You are a very likable person and people seem to like chatting it up with you. |

This is just such a ridiculously moronic post that I almost didn't reply to it but I had too. Kudos to you Wanger.
Matt Carle 4 goals 34 assists +4
Andrew MacDonald 5 goals 14 assist -7
In not one of my posts did I say that the Matt Carle contract was good. Not one of them. I don't know why you are still talking about Matt Carle? It is funny. Now genius, since you seem to be fixated on Matt Carle for today. So Carle had twice the points and was a plus player as compared to MacDonald. With those stats which player do you want on your team? Can't wait for this. |
