i posted in a devils forum on here and drury and briere came up and dudes were arguing about it and i decided to type that since they were both way off base. i figured since this is sabresland and we're anticipating a trade that might happen in 5 minutes, next wednesday, or never, that it would be something to repost for folks that were interested.

you're right though, sleeping dogs need to lie, i just really thought PH's account was interesting and figured i'd repost it for one else exercise of the demons for me.

Honestly, now that Roy is gone, also Hecht, Goose too. And we finally have some new and young talent up and coming, were are finally rounding the corner where we can say the post "Briere Drury" era is gone.

I think Ehrhoff makes us a much better team. After a year in the system and blah blah blah, he should put up more stats this year. I don't think Leino will ever be more than a role player for us, so he isn't even in Parise's galaxy. Parise makes them loads better on offense, so I'd agree with you on going from average to good.

Ironically If we had also let Vanek go it would have been the best thing to happen to us. Instead of 5 years of mediocore hockey we would have totally sucked, Lindy and Darcy would be gone, and we would have had all the best draft picks and actually rebuilt our team properly. Sure it would have been bad PR at the time but it was terrible anyway.

Your playing with "what ifs".... Who knows if Terry would have been interested in buying the Sabres? Who knows if we would still even be in Buffalo if we had two or three terrible years?

i think that's why i finally feel okay to "let go" with it.

the pegula era is super exciting, even if we didn't make any other moves, i'd be happy with our team and our direction, even if it will take some time for the team to develop, i do think another move is coming though and that's exciting in itself.
