We'll see how Rask does. Carolina will just win their division. New Jersey are one year removed from missing the playoffs and just lost parise. - sabrebuzz8
Florida will be there and so will washington. |

Really though, were going by what teams look like on paper in July. Even if you looked at the standings from the end of November that wont even tell the story. November 30th Minnesota was the 2nd best team in the league, and Toronto was 5th. Everyone was talking up the Sabres this time last year like it was going to be at least an ECF year. Just gotta see what happens. |

Parise and Suter is a big difference from Leino and Ehrhoff .
They are a much better team now. |

The opposite. After shelling out for a winger like that there's no way in hell the Wild move him. |

paul hamilton gave this run-down (very similar to cryptic versions by the afternoon crew at wgr):
Drury came in and said "guys, let's get a deal done right now."
instead of doing that deal, they agree on something and then added "this looks really great, BUT we have to talk to owner tom golisano aobut it first, okay?"
this was the beginning of the end because Drury wanted a deal done and didn't want to deal with anymore crap, this irked him.
then Briere was on the radio show in town and said "yes, we have a deal on the table and we're close, there is a deal."
and management, probably Larry Quinn, decided this went against some type of "code" that exists amongst idiots and said "screw him, he's lying on the radio about a deal, we're not going to sign him now, let's focus on drury."
when drury didn't sign, they created enough distance with briere at that point that both were lost on july 1st.
then vanek was offersheeted by kevin lowe and darcy regier had no choice but to sign him for fear of losing their 3 best fowards in one week.
btw, if the offers on the table would have been signed quickly, like they should have, we would have gotten Drury for 5 years with 5.3, and Briere for 5 years at 5 a year. both drury and briere for 10.3 and we could've gotten a wealth of picks for vanek from the oilers when we walked away from that crazy contract.
darcy regier says time and time again that he goes by the marching orders of the owner and i can blame regier or dragging his feet and overvaluing his players at times, but i fully blame ownership and management for the drury/briere cluster(frank). |

Congrats man. Just think football at 1pm, hockey at 7pm, cheap rent, Canadians, Huuuugah commercials, actually going to Sabres games, Dyngus day, Polish girls. Its all about making peace with living in Buffalo. If your happy with your life, and the things you do, it doesn't matter what people say about Buffalo. Besides look at the current temp map on the country on weather.com, Buffalo is just fine for me. |

I think he want's us to realize it wasn't darcys fault.
I forgive you darcy.
But they still should have walked away from the T.V contract! |

Ironically If we had also let Vanek go it would have been the best thing to happen to us. Instead of 5 years of mediocore hockey we would have totally sucked, Lindy and Darcy would be gone, and we would have had all the best draft picks and actually rebuilt our team properly. Sure it would have been bad PR at the time but it was terrible anyway. |
