I was getting tired of all the toddlers coming in with "lets just package something something for a #1 center!" so I went through all the depth charts and newsflash: there's not alot of top 6 centers (let alone #1s) potentially available without having to trade the farm to get them:
Marleau: too old, expensive, has NMC.
Briere: too old, too small.
Gagner: too small.
Stastny: best of the bunch.
Getzlaf: he'll be going to UFA. Will want Parise term (if CBA allows it).
Perhaps Burke's waiting out Getzlaf as an option? |

Sadly I agree. No one is going to giveaway a #1C. I guess our best hope is Getzlaf as a UFA next summer and they change the rules about stupid term.
I still don't get how Minny is getting away with this. Those deals look an awful lot like the Kovalchuk deal, and the League nixed it.

Here's two trades that IMO, make sense for both teams:
MacArthur for Halak: we get a 1a/b goaltending tandem, St. Louis gets a defensively responsible feisty winger who can put up ~50 points.
Lupul for Stastny: we get a #1 two-way, playmaking center/make room for JVR, Kadri, etc., they get a #1 LW to play with O'Reilly or Duschene. - gravyface
Bro... Halak... people... he's just not available. Why keep mentioning him in trades? And my god they gave a 1st and a 1st round prospect for him, and everyone said that was a steal. We would need waaayyy more than Mac, Halak was one of the best goalies last season in the league. |

It was Eller and Schultz. Schultz is a marginal AHLer and Eller scored 4 MOTHER(frank)ING goals in one game. (For Marty) |

I know eh, yet every 3rd page is someone proposing we trade for him. No one's suggesting we trade for Elliot, and if that's the case why the (frank) would St. Louis want him for their #1? Not to mention they already traded Bishop. Halak is just as untouchable as Fleury. |

I thought it was Eller & a 1st? and I'm well aware how awful Eller is, that trade was laughable. Even with a 1st rounder, now I'm stitches to know that it wasn't. |

I really, really wonder why St-Louis would consider moving Halak when they just finished a season with arguably the cheapest, most effective goalie tandem in the league.
Makes absolutely zero sense. |

Also that Elliot always has a magical 15 games up his butt, as the season went on he saw the bench more often as Halak got healthy. Elliot was pretty poop in the playoffs when it mattered. |

Eller on a line with Gagner would be unbelievable.
It would be unfair. 8 goals and 12 points per game between them.
Nobody could stand up to that.
Besides, Eller gets it, and Paccioretty got his life back!
