I have never actually heard that perspective on GSP before, but I think you might be on to something. Supposedly he s freakishly strong, including the hips, so you are right he *should* have more submissions. One of the problems may be that his game planning sometimes includes NOT passing guard, just to ensure he maintains control.

GSP fights to win, and not get hurt. Unfortunately, he has become boring, whereas the younger version of GSP was one of the most exciting guys to watch.

- GoneFullRetard

Yeah but the young eager GSP also got cold clocked by Matt Sera and saw the light. Also, yeah man, he should be working on his BJJ, it has become obvious over time that he can dominate people on the ground, and while he has them down there i am watching and saying " Take that arm, the leg, something, make him tap", and he doesnt, he continues with the G&P and the knees to the ribs, his go to. Man if GSP had Grace BJJ, and could submit as well as he wrestles, he would go the rest of his career undefeated until someone finally caught him on his more then questionable chin. He needs to train in brazil, while he is rehabilitating IMO.

Well you know what i mean, if a team covets him in the near future, Burke will only take an overpayment (depending how Gards plays this year). Gardiners value to the Leafs is like Eberle/Hall/RNH is to Edmonton.

Before anyone starts saying Gardiner isnt in the same class as those guys, relax, im not saying that, im just talking about value to their respective teams.

- peddy-93

To hold the same value to his team, he would have to be in the same class, so that comparison in value is a little ridiculous.

If their options are to play hockey and lose 20 million dollars or not play hockey and not lose any money, I think they would be okay with not playing hockey. The teams that lose money during a lockout are the teams that turn profits every year.
- Two_For_Truth

My bad, I thought we were talking about a regular season (not a lock-out)...

There isn't a single guy on the Leafs who should be considered untouchable.

All trades will be considered.

That is all.

- Atomic Wedgie

didnt say he was untouchable, a trade for any player would be considered, but IMO for Burke to trade Gardiner would have to be an overpayment. The Leafs feel Gardiner as a big part of the future, the only way i see them trading him is if they get pieces back to be a big part of the future as well.

I'm not gonna begrudge him a pride parade, but he needs to get sh*t done with this team...

You guys were in first place last Oct...This year's goal is to make it last through Dec...
- Flyfreaky

My goal is to keep watching them through December...if it's anything like the last few season's that's about as likely as them being in first through December.

I have note heard/experienced any throttling, but without the VPN they do compress images, so some image intensive web sites and apps will have fuzzy pics (kinds sucks).

You can buy a SIM card for $5 from almost any Petro Canada location, or online. Activate it with $15 prepaid time and then sign up for the mobile web browsing add-on, which will take a $10 chunk out of your $15 prepaid time. Throw the card in our iPhone and try it out. If you don't like it, use up all the remaining prepaid time, and don't top up the account. It will automatically cancel the account after 45 days. No contracts or fees.

One caveat, if you have an iPhone 4 or 4s, you need to cut the SIM down to a micro SIM. This can be done manually by using your existing micro SIM as a guide, or buying a tool off eBay for such purposes.

It is not perfect, and not for everyone, but I went from a $65/month 6GB data plan, to averaging approx. $15-$18/month with unlimited data. I do a lot of streaming and tether to my laptop when on the road, and can't complain. I don't do a whole lot of actually phone / texting. I mostly use data/apps and iMessaging.

- vermie22

I don't stream a lot, but I do download heavily. I kinda think I need Rogers speed for that.

I am considering TechSavvy for internet, and Wind for cell. I will look at Petro Can also

Not really actually. It depends how the team feels about that player. Rutherford said Faulk will not be part of any deal, is he in the same class as those 3? Nope, but he holds the same value.

Well he said he wasnt going to do anything significant on July 1st and that he will address team needs through trade. So i wasnt upset he was at the pride parade that day, i felt disgusted reading some of the people on twitter who tweeted about Burke being at the parade though..

I just want to see him come back and take the belt away from Condit. Hell, Condit was very fortunate to beat Rory Macdonald. He was getting his ass handed to him most of the fight.

Then, I want to see GSP smack around Nate Diaz... probably the same way Silva fans want him to obliterate Sonnen

Last year, they took the third least amount of hooking penalties in the second period of away games on weeknights.

If we can just build off of that, we should be in a pretty good position this year.

Value means what you can get for him in a trade so, no, they don't all hold the same value.

Reading both your posts on GSP..I tend to disagree with almost all you have said.

GSP does have a black belt under Gracie JJ.. he doesnt need to go to Brazil to train lol.

Its the game plans from Greg Jackson that dictate his fights for the most part, he listens and stick to the plan to beat each opponent. its not the most exciting, that I agree with.

People suck...Anyway, I just can't figure out how trading is gonna help this team...I don't think he needs to sign the big ticket free agents, but at least a couple of nice players wouldn't be asking too much...

The low number of hooking penalties was due to a strong presence in the room by Komisarek.

thank you, and i agree that Gracie WAS the best techincal fighter before...hell he is like 40 and still holds his own in there!! impressive to say the least...

hilarious how wacked UFC used to be!!

- big_dion

Gracie lost to matt hughes was all about the Gi. When one fights their lives in a GI and then is asked to fight in shorts instead, quite a big difference, and nothing to hold on to because of sweat for a regular BJJ guy like Royce. Hence the rubber guard a la Eddie Bravo.

But who though? There's no one out there that is an obvious upgrade for what this team thinks they need.

That's the amazing thing about the guy - I would have thought that a former all-star wouldn't worry about a stat like that, but the guy never let his all-star status go to his head.

Any team in the league would be lucky to have him.
